Brock Johnson's Guide Service runs angling trips out of Warrenton, OR, and offers to show you what fishing the Pacific Northwest is all about.
Capt. Brock aims to tailor every trip to your specific needs, so let him know what you're after! Depending on the trip and species, you'll be using techniques like bottom fishing and trolling. You're looking at 6 to 9-hour trips, where you'll go after the likes of Salmon, Sturgeon or Crab, depending on the weather and time of year.
You'll be fishing from a 25' Rogue boat with enough room for up to 6 anglers at any single time. It also includes a toilet for your comfort and an ice box to keep your catch fresh. You'll be able to keep any legal species caught during the trip, and Brock will even clean and fillet it after the day is done.
All the necessary fishing gear is included in the price of your trip. Please keep in mind you'll need to get a fishing license and angling tag before the start of the trip, and any snacks (no bananas!) or drinks you want. Alternatively, Capt. Brock can arrange lunch at an extra cost.
Want to bring the rest of the family along for the ride? Kids are welcome aboard, so you're free to make it a family adventure.
Please beware that the weather on the coast is very unpredictable, so wear layers. Wear warm clothes and also bring some sort of rain gear – sometimes the runs to and from the fishing grounds can get a little wet.
Other than that, there's nothing left to do but book your trip now and hit the water with Brock Johnson's Guide Service!

Capt. Brock was great about communication. He contacted us well in advance of the trip to make sure we were getting the experience that my family and I wanted. The original plan was to do Ocean side salmon fishing and finish the end of the day on Sturgeon in the Columbia river. Unfortunately as the week unfolded, it became apparent that winds on the ocean were going to be high and the water really rough. Brock offered to cancel if the weather didn't cooperate but he wanted to warn us that people would likely get sea sick if we went out. He offered an alternative with Sturgeon fishing the Columbia. My kids aren't that hardcore about fishing so we skipped the Ocean and hit the river. Brock was very knowledgeable about the area, where the fish would be etc. The boat is clean and well kept. The gear was in great shape. He's friendly and helpful. He is a licensed pilot boat operator for the cargo ships in the river. He runs a safe boat with professional skill. We will definitely plan another trip with him when we make it back to the Oregon coast.
Brock called the day before because their experience wasn't stellar, but wanted me to know in case I wanted the option to cancel. I know the river changes every day so I said I was game. He was willing. We got out on the water and it was a beautiful day, the opposite of the previous day. There weren't many bites, but we managed to reel in a Chinook salmon. Brock was great and very knowledgable with history of the area and of the fish. I would highly recommend going with Brock.
We caught 4 sturgeon, all of good size. We did come out of season but we still had a very great time. Our guide was very informational and answered all of our questions. It was nice getting to know him and he was very knowledgeable. He has been fishing since he was little and knows the ins and outs of the area. Overall very great experince with a friendly guide. Hoping to do it again during salmon season! 10/10 recomend.
We had a great time with Captain Brock. He has a nice boat, good equipment, and knows the area very well. Brock was super attentive to all of our needs and we caught our limit! Our nexr salmon fishing trip will definitely be with Brock.
While on vacation in the Pacific Northwest I had the opportunity to take my 9 year old son Sturgeon fishing. This has been a bucket list fishing trip for me for years. Brock was amazing and very personable. He made the trip fun and was engaged the entire time. He got us on Sturgeon pretty quick and we cought several. My son is still talking about how it was the best fishing trip ever! Thanks Brock!
Warrenton, Oregon, United States
Born and raised in Astoria, OR, I have been chasing Salmon, Sturgeon, and Steelhead on the lower Columbia River since I can remember. Having that local knowledge has proven to catch fish while others are struggling. Guiding has been a dream of mine since high school when I was a bait boy on a charter boat the summer of my senior year. Since then, I told myself one day I'll have my own sled and continue to help people hook into that once-in-a-lifetime 'King' Salmon or the elusive 10' Sturgeon.
