Brock Johnson’s Guide Service runs angling trips out of Warrenton, OR, and offers to show you what fishing the Pacific Northwest is all about.
Capt. Brock aims to tailor every trip to your specific needs, so let him know what you’re after! Depending on the trip and species, you’ll be using techniques like bottom fishing and trolling. You’re looking at 6 to 9-hour trips, where you’ll go after the likes of Salmon, Sturgeon or Crab, depending on the weather and time of year.
You’ll be fishing from a 25’ Rogue boat with enough room for up to 6 anglers at any single time. It also includes a toilet for your comfort and an ice box to keep your catch fresh. You’ll be able to keep any legal species caught during the trip, and Brock will even clean and fillet it after the day is done.
All the necessary fishing gear is included in the price of your trip. Please keep in mind you’ll need to get a fishing license and angling tag before the start of the trip, and any snacks (no bananas!) or drinks you want. Alternatively, Capt. Brock can arrange lunch at an extra cost.
Want to bring the rest of the family along for the ride? Kids are welcome aboard, so you’re free to make it a family adventure.
Please beware that the weather on the coast is very unpredictable, so wear layers. Wear warm clothes and also bring some sort of rain gear – sometimes the runs to and from the fishing grounds can get a little wet.

Full Day Trip
Great day on the water!
Brock was great to work with! I feel like he did everything he could to maximize our time on the water. He started by asking our preference for what we were angling for and giving advice about what was doing well for the season. He then made a game plan to allow us time to try for each of the species we were trying for without wasting time traveling between locations. We started with steelhead (which we caught 2 monsters), then went to sturgeon for the rest of our 8 hour day (where we caught another 15). He was pleasant to be around. The equipment worked great and was intuitive to use. I would definitely recommend this service!

Half Day Trip
Despite all odds
Brock worked diligently to help my son and me catch salmon despite the weather not permitting us to go out to the sea. Given the time of year, the vast majority of the salmon were at sea but because of poor weather, it was not safe to go out there. He offered to change our fishing day but my schedule would not permit. He took us out anyway on the river where it was safe and we still caught salmon even when others weren't able to get anything.

Catch and Release Sturgeon
Amazing!
Captain Brock gave us the best experience! This was a gift for my husband for his birthday which happened to take place on our honeymoon. We Carved out a day to hang around Astoria for this fun sturgeon trip. We caught so many fish! Brock did so much work to prepare ahead of time, while we were there and of course clean up. He was fun, friendly and accommodating. My husband has been on many fishing charters all over the world and said this was his favorite!

Brock is a knowledgeable, friendly guide!
Brock took us out on the Columbia targeting steelhead and Sturgeon. As a native to the area, Brock has been fishing these water since he was a kid and is part of a multigenerational family of fishing guides so he is very knowledgeable. His demeanor was friendly and we had a great time talking with him throughout the day. If you’re looking for a great guide in the Columbia for any of the fish in the area, I would highly recommend him!

We had a great time!
I booked a charter with Capt. Brock for myself and my two teenage sons. We messaged multiple times prior to the trip to identify our interests and make a plan for the day. I appreciated Brock's willingness to be flexible. We settled on fishing for Sturgeon and headed out a little later than a usual fishing trip (at my request). Capt.
