Come on aboard with Capt. Dustin, whose main priority is to get you on some fish. Expect to use techniques like light tackle, bottom fishing, and trolling, based on the species you're targeting. Speaking of which, you have the option of 4 to 8-hour trips, where you'll be fishing for the likes of Redfish, Jack Crevalle, Sheepshead, Cobia, Spanish Mackerel, and Sharks, depending on the specific season and the day's weather.
Your fishing adventure starts on a 30' Island Hopper boat that can safely take up to 6 anglers. This boat features a toilet. All rods, reels, and terminal tackle are included in the price so you can focus on what really matters, fishing.
As for fishing licenses, everything will be taken care of by the captain so you don't have to worry about it. You're welcome to keep all legal species caught during the trip.
Here to help you with anything you need, the first mate will be on hand during the trip. Leaving a tip for a job well done is much appreciated.

4 HOUR TRIP MORNING on July 6, 2025
This was one of the best days of fishing I have ever had and it just wasn’t because the fish were bitting like crazy. Each year at our family reunion I schedule a fishing trip with my father-in-law, cousins and nephews. This was the first time we hosted our family reunion on the Gulfcoast as we usually go to South Padre Island where my family is from. I have been fishing with Captain Dustin 4 times in the past and because of his professionalism, graciousness and patience I knew he would be the perfect fit for my family. We started out catching croaker and white trout just outside of the marina and the action was constant. From there we headed toward Ship Island and in no time we caught our limit of Redfish. Exhausted from reeling in 25-30 lb Reds, we caught a reprieve as we headed toward the East end of Cat Island and caught our limit of shark as well as a few sting rays (which we released). Within a few hours of leaving the dock we were exhausted from reeling in massive Reds and very large sharks. With all of this going on, our trip didn’t end here. Captain Dustin and his 1st mate Christopher gave a us a history lesson of the area and shared their experiences regarding being life long residents of the Gulfcoast. Memories are made when you have people you love and care about share experiences with you. Thank you to Captain Dustin for making this a memorable experience and helping create a memory my family will speak of for years to come. Don’t waste your time looking for another charter. If you want to catch fish, learn the history of the area and be treated like family from the first time you step on the boat, then look no further than Captain Dustin and hop aboard the Fishtrap for a trip you will not soon forget.

Wanted to take my son on his first fishing trip on the way to Destin. The Captain and his crew made it a trip to remember. The Absolute Best Fishing Trip
6 HOUR TRIP MORNING on July 16, 2024
Dustin and deckhand Christopher were awesome and worked extremely hard the entire 6 hours and the extra 1.5 hours cleaning the fish we caught. They were totally driven to make our trip the best for my family (my wife and 3 sons). We were on fish immediately catching bull shark and redfish. If you’re looking for a crew that is going to work hard for your family or group - look no further. They helped coach my sons to be better fishermen and allowed them to participate pulling fish into the boat. They were patient with novice fishermen like us and helped out in any scenario. Equipment was first class, variety of fishing techniques were used from bottom fishing to trolling. Safety was a top priority and I appreciated how safety was covered thoroughly before we even left the dock. This was a FIRST CLASS operation.

One of if not the the best experience offshore fishing for beginners and experienced fishermen. Captain was great and deck hand was the best ! Hello, my name is Captain Dustin McGill. I am a born and raised Mississippi native here on the Emerald Gulf Coast. I have been fishing the Gulf Coast my entire life and have been in the guiding business for the last 10 years. I started out with my mentor and teacher Captain Ron Harmon at the shipyard, working on our fleet boats, before I became a deckhand. I spent 5 years as a deckhand before proceeding on to the Captains' School. It has now been 8 years since I started guiding professionally. When I was younger, I used to go on charters all the time with my parents, watching the deckhand, wanting to do what they did. Little did I know that one day I would!
