Upstate Guide Service owner Mike Crawford has been fishing Oneida Lake for 40 years. My first walleye on Oneida were caught while fishing with the legendary Kemo Masset as a boy in the 80’s.
Kemo liked black and yellow Bucktail jigs tipped with a nightcrawler while drifting over the weeds and shoals. The very same technique still works great today!
Today, I am a licensed USCG Captain and navigate a 2021 Lund boat to the same shoals with guests!
The 2026 season marks the 23rd season operating a guide service on Oneida Lake. I provide safe, enjoyable, and successful fishing trips every time out.
Lures and baits, like so many “guides”, come and go over the years…Sometimes best to stay with what works.

Captain Mike was very knowledgeable about the lake and catching waldos. My first walleye trip had an awesome day. Would definitely recommend this trip.
Had a great time, was non-stop action all day long. Caught alot of fish and had a great time, couldn't ask for a better guide!!! Would recommend him to anyone. I will be going out with him soon!!!!!!
