Based out of Marathon, Saltnsun is your ticket to a memorable time on the water.
Captain Jake aims to tailor every trip to your specific needs, so let him know what you’re after! Depending on the trip and species, you’ll be using techniques like bottom fishing, trolling, drift fishing, jigging, popping, and spinning. You’re looking at 4 to 8-hour trips, where you’ll usually go after the likes of Dolphin, Snapper, Sailfish, King Mackerel, Grouper, and Spanish Mackerel, depending on the weather and time of year.
Your fishing adventure starts on a 29’ Topaz boat that can safely take up to 6 anglers. This boat features an ice box. All the necessary fishing gear is included in the price of your trip. All that’s up to you is to use it as best you can. Your trip will include all the necessary fishing licenses for the day.
You’re welcome to keep all legal species caught during the trip. There will be complimentary drinks aboard for your convenience during the trip, but feel free to bring your own drinks or snacks if you prefer.
This is a children-friendly charter, so you’re welcome to bring your kids on for a fun fishing adventure.

Great time!
We were looking for a captain that would be a good fit for taking our whole family fishing, with a 10 and 13 year old. Captain Jake had good family reviews and he didnt disappoint. It was really rough waters, but Jake knew where we could go to keep the boat as stable as possible and we caught a ton of fish. Jake worked his butt off just keeping each rod baited and collecting our catch. I didnt get to count them all, but I’m sure we ended up with 30-35 keepers, which Jake fileted for us. Jake has clearly been doing this his whole life and capable of taking out a group like ours just excited to catch fish, or anglers looking for specific fish. He was great with all of us, including the kids. Highly recommend!

Family Fishing Charter
We had the most amazing day out on the water on our family fishing trip—three generations onboard, including grandparent, parents, and our two little adventurers (ages 9 and 7). From the moment we hopped on the boat, the vibe was relaxed, friendly, and fun. Jake was an absolute legend—super knowledgeable, great with the kids, and clearly loves what he does. The highlight of the day? We caught a hammerhead shark! The kids were over the moon, and honestly, so were the adults. Jake handled the catch expertly, ensuring it was done safely and respectfully, while giving us all a thrilling story to tell. The boat was comfy, clean, and had everything we needed including cold drinks and refreshments. There was plenty of shade for us to chill, and space for the kids to move around without getting in trouble. Jake kept things light and fun, cracking jokes and sharing cool stories about the sea and the local wildlife and was incredibly patient with the kids as they learned to cast and reel. If you're looking for a fun, family-friendly fishing experience, this charter is a winner. 10/10 would recommend. We’ll definitely be back!

Best Day EVER!
We had the BEST day! As a family of 5 with three kids (ages 15, 12, & 9 — two girls and a boy), this was our very first time deep sea fishing, so we chose a nearshore trip with Captain Jake , and it did not disappoint. The ride out was quick and Jake quickly had us on fish. The kids were loving it, even our daughters who weren’t sure what to expect. The energy, excitement, and smiles were nonstop! Then came the moment we’ll never forget , our 12-year-old son hooked into a monster bull shark and spent nearly two hours reeling it in (with a few well-earned breaks and some help along the way). Captain Jake was amazing with the kids, patient, fun, and clearly passionate about what he does. He even made a stop at a sandbar so we could take a dip and cool off before heading back in , a perfect way to wrap up the morning. Highly, highly recommend booking with Jake if you’re looking for a family-friendly, memorable fishing experience. He made our first trip one we’ll never forget!

We had an amazing time on our fishing trip with Captain Jake! From start to finish, he was joking right along and just having so much fun. My daughter got sea sick and he was doing all that he could to help make her more comfortable. He was VERY knowledgeable and helpful while fishing. We were on the fish in no time and he packed good snacks to share with us. The scenery was beautiful, the weather was perfect, after fishing we got to swim at a sand bar and when we got back to the dock, he cleaned our fish and sent us to the best restaurant to cook our catch. It was such a wonderful time. Thank you for the memories, Jake! I can’t recommend this trip enough—We will definitely be booking with you again the next time we’re down this way.

Awesome family fishing trip
We had a great fishing day with Captain Jake! This is our second excursion with SaltnSun and it did not disappoint! We had a great day out on the water catching Barjack, Grouper, Yellowtail, Rainbow and Mahi! It was a little choppy out there at some points but Captain Jake was in control and made us feel safe so we could focus on fishing. He is a great captain who doesn’t miss a beat driving the boat, taking care of the equipment and also making sure we had fun, memorable and a great time! We will definitely book with him again!

We had an amazing time on our fishing trip with Captain Jake! From start to finish, he was joking right along and just having so much fun.
