Based out of Marathon, Saltnsun is your ticket to a memorable time on the water.

Captain Jake aims to tailor every trip to your specific needs, so let him know what you're after! Depending on the trip and species, you'll be using techniques like bottom fishing, trolling, drift fishing, jigging, popping, and spinning. You're looking at 4 to 8-hour trips, where you'll usually go after the likes of Dolphin, Snapper, Sailfish, King Mackerel, Grouper, and Spanish Mackerel, depending on the weather and time of year.

Your fishing adventure starts on a 29' Topaz boat that can safely take up to 6 anglers. This boat features an ice box. All the necessary fishing gear is included in the price of your trip. All that's up to you is to use it as best you can. Your trip will include all the necessary fishing licenses for the day.

You're welcome to keep all legal species caught during the trip. There will be complimentary drinks aboard for your convenience during the trip, but feel free to bring your own drinks or snacks if you prefer.

This is a children-friendly charter, so you're welcome to bring your kids on for a fun fishing adventure.

8 hr humps trip ( troll deep drop) on April 7, 2026 • 3 adults • 1 child

We had an absolutely amazing time on our fishing charter with Captain Jake! From start to finish, he made the whole experience fun, exciting and unforgettable. He was especially great with my 12-year-old! He was super patient, encouraging, and made sure he was having a blast the entire time! We limited out on tuna, caught mahi and even saw a great white!! We caught a ton of fish, learned a lot, and created memories we honestly will never forget. Huge shoutout to his first mate Bryan as well, he was awesome, super helpful, and kept everything running smoothly all day. When we were done fishing Captain Jake even recommended a lovely dinner spot where we could bring the freshly filleted fish we just caught and have it cooked the same night, it was incredible! You can really tell he cares about what he does and goes above and beyond to make sure everyone has a great time. Highly recommend booking with him if you’re looking for an awesome day on the water. We will definitely be back!

Captain Jake is the best!

4 Hour Trip – Reef on March 29, 2026 • 3 adults • 3 children

We went out today for a four hour reef trip in the morning. It was a great morning with my wife and two boys along with my brother in law and nephew. On the way out Captain Jake was joking with our boys(9,6 and 6) about just going to the sandbar and not fishing. They got a good chuckle out of it. We arrived at our spot and dropped anchor. The kids caught fish immediately and they were thrilled! From there things took a turn south as all three kids and my wife became a bit sea sick (not Captain Jake’s fault) so myself and my brother in law fished away! I wasn’t able to get anything in the boat for our dinner but did catch a 50lb Goliath Grouper, since it’s protected we had to throw it back but was a really cool experience. Despite the illness the trip was amazing! Highly recommend Saltnsun!

Near shore fishing - 1:00 PM on November 4, 2025 • 4 adults • 1 child

We were looking for a captain that would be a good fit for taking our whole family fishing, with a 10 and 13 year old. Captain Jake had good family reviews and he didnt disappoint. It was really rough waters, but Jake knew where we could go to keep the boat as stable as possible and we caught a ton of fish. Jake worked his butt off just keeping each rod baited and collecting our catch. I didnt get to count them all, but I’m sure we ended up with 30-35 keepers, which Jake fileted for us. Jake has clearly been doing this his whole life and capable of taking out a group like ours just excited to catch fish, or anglers looking for specific fish. He was great with all of us, including the kids. Highly recommend!

250 lb Nurse Shark!

4 Hour Trip – Tarpon on April 2, 2026 • 2 adults

Origiannlyvwabted to do tarpon fishing, but he suggested reef fishing first for some action and engagemnt for everyone. We caught immediately, by the dozens. We used those to catch a 250lb nurse shark later and that was most impressive. Jake worked his butt off to make sure everyone had lures in the water the whole time. He’s funny and engaging too; best guide Ive seen anywhere. Thanks Jake!

Great day on the water

8 hour (Full Day )Reef Trip (8-4pm) on January 3, 2026 • 2 adults • 2 children

My family and I went out for the 8 hour day trip. Captain Jake put us on fish all day and was great with my 6 and 9 year olds. He is very knowledgeable and had a great attitude the entire trip. We loved the trip and would recommend it to anyone. We will definitely use this charter again next time we are in Marathon. We caught over 50 fish throughout the day and ended up with 3 large plastic bags of fillets at the end of the day. It was my 9 year old's birthday and he is already planning for his birthday next year with Captain Jake!
