Whats better than going out fishing? Going out with locals who have lived in the Adirondacks their whole lives fishing these waters. The guides at Playin’ Hooky are here to make your trip memorable.

We will do our best to make sure you have a fun day full of fishing. This involves 3 to 9-hour seasonal trips, using light tackle, fly fishing, trolling or even icefishing. Target fish species such as Perch, Rainbow Trout, Crappie, Lake Trout, Pike, Smelt and Bass or whatever will bite depending on the time of the year and conditions on the day.

Let us take you Icefishing - Icefishing has a bad reputation for being super cold and being out in the elements. We would like to change that view with our insulated shanties, foam insulated flooring and heaters to keep the whole day comfortable to fish. We will provide all gear and bait needed. During your trip we will be using Garmin Livescope to see fish coming in and chasing our lures. Between the tiny rods and the chase for a tip up flag will make sure you have another enjoyable adventure to check off your bucket list!

Let us take you open water fishing - You'll be fishing from a remodeled 2002 19' Pathfinder boat or a 2005 20’ Pathfinder with enough room in each for up to 5 anglers at any single time. These boats ride incredibly smooth on even the rough days and are in beautiful condition. Both boats have a wireless trolling motor to get the best expierence for our clients. All the necessary fishing gear is included in the price of your trip & we provide a cooler with ice to keep drinks and snack cold.

Fishing licenses aren't included, so make sure to get them prior to the trip. Children are welcome aboard, so you’re good to get the young ones started early!

Book your trip now and hit the water with Playin’ Hooky Guiding.

Great day on the water
5 Hour Trip on August 27, 20252 adults
My nephew and I had a great time with Justin catching fish and learning about the area. He was a very dedicated and knowledgeable guide. Although we didn’t get the lunker we were hoping for, we caught 5 species of fish and had a great time. I will definitely contact Justin again for more fishing next time we visit the area.

3 Hour Trip on August 15, 20252 adults
We had an awesome time fishing the beautiful Upper St. Regis Lake with Justin! His knowledge about the area and the fish is truly impressive. Plus, we enjoyed learning a little history about some of the Great Camps on the lake. As we make our yearly trips to the Adirondacks, we look forward to going out again with Justin!

5 Hour Trip on July 21, 20256 adults
We caught a rare 40° July morning but had a great day on the water anyway. Capt. Justin is a pro that knows the lakes like he's been fishing them his whole life - spoiler, he has. He is a real professional who managed our partially experienced crew with ease a got us a couple of firsts - pike - and PB's. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Upper St Regis trip
5 Hour Trip on July 17, 20252 adults
Captain Justin was absolutely amazing. He got us on the water quickly and was a joy to fish with. His knowledge about the region and wildlife made great conversations. It felt like fishing with an old friend. His gear was top notch. He knew exactly what baits would work and the T.F.O. rods were the right tool for the job.

3 Hour Trip on August 26, 20252 adults1 child
We had the greatest time with Justin, he was funny and made our time out so good. He had spent all the time with my 8 yr old and help him catch a few fish and he had so much patience with him. Can’t say enough good things about this trip.
