As you draw away from the spectacular, unspoiled Mauritius coastline aboard a superb and newly restored cabin cruiser you’ll know that you’re in fishing paradise. The volcanic island is surrounded by a steep drop in the continental shelf, meaning deep sea fishing in the Indian Ocean is extremely accessible, and even a short trip can put you in a spot to catch the fish of a lifetime.
The 42’ D’unienville is fitted out extensively for deep sea fishing, with three fighting chairs, two 220HP Cummins marine engines, full navigational systems including an echo sounder with a color monitor, and a range of safety devices. Conditions aboard are superb, with a spacious fly deck giving fantastic views of the surrounding ocean, a kitchenette with a microwave, an enclosed shower, toilet, and a spacious cabin.
Onboard you’ll find some of the best quality fishing equipment, including Fenwick rods with Penn International reels (50 lb, 80 lb, and 130 lb) and a Penn downrigger. Fishing trips involve trolling with live and artificial bait for Marlin, Dorado, Sharks, Tuna, Bonito, Wahoo, Barracuda, and more, depending on the season. The biggest fish tend to be around in the warmer season from November to April, making this a great place to get some winter sun and go fishing.
The experienced team aboard Horizon never leaves the dock without a selection of different, good-quality lures and live bait to give them the best chance of attracting a bite. While the charter company has been operating for 8 years and is manned by very experienced captains, they consider everyday fishing to be a new opportunity to learn more, and they are enthusiastic about sharing this experience with you.
