Running angling trips out of West Palm Beach, Big Buford Sportfishing invites you to create wonderful memories on these fruitful waters!
I'm licensed and up-to-date on all coast guard credentials. Capt. Ricky and David are here to cater a trip to your skill and ability level. He believes that fishing should be a memorable experience for beginners and novices alike. You'll be using techniques like bottom fishing, trolling, jigging, kite fishing, and spinning, depending on what you're going after.
As part of the 4 to 12-hour trips, you'll target Mahi Mahi, Sailfish, King Mackerel, Tuna, Amberjack, and Snapper, according to the current season and weather conditions. You'll be able to keep any legal species caught during the trip. Please let the captain know if you have any questions or special requests.
You'll be fishing from a 35' SeaVee boat with enough room for up to 6 anglers at any time. All the necessary fishing gear is included in the price of your trip. All that's up to you is to use it as best you can. You don't need to worry about fishing licenses, As they will be provided and handled by the charter. The price of your trip also includes complimentary drinks, but you're welcome to bring your own.
The price of a given trip does include licenses, so be sure to get in touch with the captain about your options before the trip. We're here to help you with anything you need, the first mate will be on hand during the trip. Leaving a tip for a job well done is much appreciated. This is a children-friendly charter, so you're welcome to bring your kids.

Half Day Trip (AM) on January 3, 2026 • 5 adults • 2 childrenWe went fishing with three adults and two young anglers, 6 and 8. Captain Ricky was punctual and well-prepared, and we quickly identified a great game plan to target eater snappers primarily to get have good catching activity… and catch we did. We got probably 75+ fish and kept the best sized fish, 19 in total. The technique was manageable for non-anglers and really entertaining and fun. We counted at least 8 species and later, after Captain Ricky filleted all the fish for us, had plenty for tacos and ceviche for lunch and some for the freezer. This is the most catching we have ever done on a charter and we’ve been on a bunch. We will definitely reach out to Captain Ricky again next time we are in town.

Half Day Trip (PM) on January 21, 2025 • 2 adultsWe had a great time. We went out in the rain. I took my 10 year old son and he loved it. Ricky was teaching him things the whole trip We were on fish the entire time but had to keep moving to try and stay out of the sharks which was impossible but he did the best anyone could do. We caught a lot of fish and would have had a lot more if not for the sharks. Sharks would attack the fish every-time as you reeled them up. We got bit off at least 20 times and the times we didn’t the sharks were right behind. It was kind of fun to see 2-6 massive bull sharks at full speed trying to steel your fish. Make sure to follow Ricky’s directions and real as fast as you can!

His boat was new and came equipped with high end fish-finding equipment and tackle. Captain Ricky knows how to find the hot spots, and we had fish on our lines the entire morning. Upon returning to the dock, Captain Ricky cleaned, cut and bagged the catch for us to take home. He also provided plenty of cold drinks for us while on his boat. We highly recommend, and will hire him again for our next trip to Florida.

Pulled up the first spot and started catching. We brought home plenty for two meals and were kept busy the whole time. Never a down time not getting bites. Enjoyed the time on the water!

Full Day Trip on May 9, 2023 • 2 adultsIf you’re looking for a good time with good people and you want to catch a lot of fish, look no further. Ricky and Chad were amazing. My boyfriend and I had a great time and caught a lot of fish (amberjack, yellow jack, mahi & snapper). Highly highly recommend doing a full day of fishing with the full 8 hours.
