Based out of Sheridan. Fishtales Outfitting is your ticket to a memorable time on the Ruby River.
The Ruby River is primarily a wade fishing destination.
Capt. Michael aims to tailor every trip to your specific needs, so let him know what you're after! Depending on the trip and species, you'll be using techniques like fly fishing, and drift fishing. You're looking at 8-hour trips, where you'll usually go after the likes of Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Cutthroat Trout, depending on the weather and time of year.
All the necessary fishing gear is included in the price of your trip. All that's up to you is to use it as best you can. Fishing licenses aren't included, so make sure to get them prior to the trip.
These trips are strictly catch-and-release, so expect to return anything you catch back to the water.
There will be complimentary snacks, drinks, and lunch on your adventure for your convenience during the trip, but feel free to bring your own drinks or snacks if you prefer.
This is a children-friendly charter, so you're welcome to bring your kids on for a fun fishing adventure.
Please note that the departure point may vary and will be discussed with he captain prior to the trip.
Under no circumstances will we put more than 2 people with a guide.
Please tip your guide directly. A 20% gratuity is considered proper.

Michael grew up in the woods, learning hunting and fly fishing in Connecticut. With his grandfather as his mentor, an avid outdoorsmen and Connecticut State Park constable, he honed his Trout fly fishing skills. Michael spent a season in Southwest Alaska, which opened possibilities to Southwest Montana and its endless wild Trout streams. He ultimately settled down in Sheridan, where his wife Theresa and himself raise their two children and 2 Lab's named Maggie and Tippet.
