Fishtales Outfitting is Southwest Montana's premier fly fishing outfitter and guide service with over 20 years of experience. Enjoy a relaxing fun day on the Jefferson River with one of our expert guides. The Jefferson is not a 'fish factory ' but it holds a strong population of rainbows and some of the largest brown trout in the state.
Capt. Mike specializes in creating customized Montana fly fishing trips to suit any angling skill. He'll go above and beyond to ensure you have a fun day full of fishing. This involves 8-hour trips, mainly fishing for Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, and Cutthroat Trout, depending on the season and conditions on the day.
You'll be float fishing during your fly-fishing adventure. You'll experience the great outdoors and everything nature has to offer. All the necessary fishing gear is included in the price of your trip. All that's up to you is to use it as best you can. Please make sure to buy a valid fishing license ahead of time. These trips are strictly catch and release, so expect to return anything you catch back to the water.
The price of your trip also includes complimentary snacks, drinks, and lunch, but you're welcome to bring your own. Please let the captain know if you have any questions or special requests. This is a children-friendly charter, so you're welcome to bring your kids on for a fun fishing adventure.

With his grandfather as his mentor, an avid outdoorsmen and Connecticut State Park constable, he honed his Trout fly fishing skills. Michael spent a season in Southwest Alaska, which opened possibilities to Southwest Montana and its endless wild Trout streams. He ultimately settled down in Sheridan, where his wife Theresa and himself raise their two children and 2 Lab's named Maggie and Tippet.
