Thumper Bluewater Expeditions operates out of Golfito and offers extended offshore overnight trips to Costa Rica's Seamounts and Hannibal Bank, Panama. The crew specializes in fishing for Billfish with light tackle, either on the fly or by using bait.
Fishing aboard a luxurious 60' Mikelson offshore sportfishing boat, they can accommodate up to 6 anglers in air-conditioned comfort. The boat features three double staterooms, private bathrooms with hot water showers, and a full kitchen and bar. With a huge livewell and tuna tubes, you will be in the best possible hands as you target the king of the Billfish.
The border area between Costa Rica and Panama is one of only two places in the world where three tectonic plates meet. This creates a ridge rising 2500 feet from the bottom of the sea to just 500 feet below the surface. This creates surges of nutrients that rise from the bottom of the sea and attract Bonito, Yellowfins and, hot on their tails, the Marlin.
You'll target Marlin, often catching Sailfish, Tuna, and Mahi Mahi as a by-catch (and, in the case of the latter two, a tasty dinner). At night they use underwater lights to fish for Swordfish, Thresher Shark, and Squid. The beauty of multiday trips in the area is that when they find Marlin they can stick to them and start a new day in a proven location.

Captain Harry Glah owns and operates Thumper Bluewater Expeditions. He is an experienced professional angler who has spent a large part of his life honing his skills in the canyons of the Atlantic East Coast. He was declared champion of the 2002 Ocean City Tuna Tournament and has participated in two IGFA Offshore World Championship events. He has been based out of Costa Rica since 2006 and specializes in fishing for Billfish with light tackle.

You can cancel or modify your booking up to 60 days before the trip date, free of charge. If you cancel or modify your booking later, or fail to show up, you'll forfeit 100% of what you've paid.
