Looking for an offshore fishing adventure on the Oregon Coast?
Look no further! Come fishing with Prospector's Fishing Adventures, where every offshore trip is a thrill of a lifetime!
Experience the thrill of fighting a monster Halibut or Tuna to delicious Lingcod, various types of Rockfish, Salmon, and the tasty Dungeness Crab!
Our home port is South Beach Marina in Newport Oregon, but we will take trips out of Depoe Bay, Coos Bay, and various other ports in Oregon dependent on weather conditions and where the fishing is better at that time of year.
Trips range from a short 5-hour Rockfish trip to a 12-hour Tuna trip. All Halibut trips are 10 hours. All trips can be customized to maximize your fishing adventure. Crabbing can be added to any trip for an additional fee with the exception of Tuna Trips.

Your fishing adventure will start with a safety briefing given by Captain Lyle aboard a 30-foot North River Offshore boat constructed specifically for the offshore waters of the Oregon Coast. It is powered by twin Yamaha 200hp outboard engines, with an enclosed cab to get away from the elements. A marine head is also available for guests' use. The boat is equipped with 2 state-of-the-art depth sounders/fish finders, 3 VHF radios, radar, and an autopilot. The Prospector is capable of reaching speeds of 45 knots as you travel to your fishing destination and carries a maximum of 6 anglers: 4 anglers on longer-range Tuna trips.

All Rods, Reels, Terminal Tackle, and Bait are included in the price so you can focus on what really matters, catching fish!
Downriggers and Outriggers are used for trolling for Salmon or Tuna.
All you need is an Oregon fishing license, an angling tag if fishing for Halibut or Salmon, a shellfish license if chasing Crab, and some drinks or snacks of your choice to make the most of your time on the water. A minimum of 3 people is needed for the boat to leave the dock unless prior agreement is made.

⸻ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hands Down the Best Fishing Trip EVER
5Hour Trip – Rockfish on August 8, 20254 adults
If you’re looking for the ultimate fishing experience, Captain Lyle of The Prospector is the one you want at the helm. I honestly can’t say enough good things about him — not only is he incredibly knowledgeable about the waters, but he’s also one of the most helpful, down-to-earth, and genuinely enthusiastic captains I’ve ever met. From the moment we stepped on board, Captain Lyle made us feel like pros. He explained everything clearly, set us up with the perfect gear, and knew exactly where to go to find the fish. And not just any fish — more fish than I thought was even possible to catch in one day! I’m not exaggerating when I say I caught more fish on this trip than I probably have in my entire life combined. The man is a legend! Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned angler, Lyle’s patience, guidance, and deep love for what he does make the whole experience unforgettable. He truly went above and beyond — helping with every detail, celebrating each catch, and making sure everyone had the time of their lives. Seriously, book with The Prospector and Captain Lyle. You’ll leave with sore arms, a full cooler, and the biggest smile on your face. I can’t wait to go again!

Best captain we could have asked for!
8 Hour Trip – Salmon on July 27, 20253 adults
We had an amazing day out at sea with Captain Lyle! From the start, he was friendly, kind, and incredibly helpful. We were lucky enough to catch a good amount of crab and Coho salmon, and even though one of us was seasick most of the trip, the water was unbelievably calm and Lyle went out of his way to make sure everyone was comfortable and cared for. He didn’t just help us catch fish—he cleaned our crab and salmon right off the marina and gave us great recommendations on where to get the crab cooked and the salmon processed. His local knowledge and easygoing attitude made the whole experience stress-free and fun. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide. If you're thinking about booking a fishing charter we could not recommend him enough!

Couldn't Have Asked for a Better Time
10 Hour Trip – Halibut on July 5, 20252 adults
Captain Lyle and his wife Stephanie were wonderful hosts on their boat! They informed us of all the requirements on board (no bananas allowed!) upon arrival. The weather was perfect, so the ride to/from the fishing hole was a pleasant one, but not without a bit of excitement. The captain knew the area well and ensured we all reached our limit, plus caught a canary rockfish and some others. Cpt. Lyle and Stephanie hung around upon arriving at the dock, helped fill out catch tags, and ensured that our fish were cleaned, packaged, and ready to go before we left. 10/10, no notes. If anyone wants to know how to run a fishing trip, study Cpt. Lyle.

A great experience for kids!
5hr Rockfish Trip on July 9, 20254 adults2 children
I took my son and my nephews to fish for black rockfish and crab. We limited out on black rock fish within 1.5 hours of fishing! Crabbing took longer and was a slower day but was still fun. Lyle’s wife/deckhand was very good with my 10 year old boy and the other kids! My little boy always has dozens of questions and she was very patient, knowledgeable, and nice. Overall, I would highly recommend this charter! It was well priced for the experience, a lot of fun, organized, clean, and a great time!
