Sandbar Somewhere Charter
There's a fish with your name on it in Big Pine Key and Sandbar Somewhere Charter will help you catch it! Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Joseph can tell you all about the local fishery.
Mangrove Snapper, Great Barracuda, Lemon Shark, Bull Shark, Blacktip Shark, Mutton Snapper, Gray Triggerfish, Yellowtail Snapper, Lane Snapper, Spotted Seatrout, and more can be found in these waters, depending on when you go.
For these species, you're likely to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.
Feel free to take home some of the fish you catch within size and bag limits. Catch cleaning is available, so you can take your fish home to eat. Now that's dinner!
Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids are absolutely welcome! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. And, you can't go wrong with snacks so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty belly!
Your vessel for the day is a 22' Sundance saltwater fishing boat that holds up to 4 passengers. It has everything you need for a productive day on the water. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures. Live bait is included, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.
There's no need to buy a fishing license, so all you have to do is show up ready for a good time! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. Your captain will help you follow regulations while you fish.
Some essentials you'll want to bring are sunglasses, bottled water, and sunblock (non-spray). Drinks will be available for you.

This was a great experience for our family. Captain Hoyt was amazing with the kids...super patient and attentive (kids aged 13, 13 and 11). I don't know how many lines he happily baited for us today. We caught enough mangrove snapper for a delicious dinner for 5 (dad stayed back but loved the dinner) as well as a big barracuda, lizard fish (a first for us) as well as other species. He also stopped to show us a wreck on the way back. And we saw some turtles! On the way back to homebase, one of my twins said he knew it was going to be fun, but today's charter was way more fun than he ever expected. We are already planning our next trip back down so we can go back out with Captain Hoyt.

thank you very much for the review. glad you had a wonderful trip 😊

Captain Hoyt was incredible. He was very knowledgeable about the wildlife we encountered, The fish I caught and he was just a super nice guy. If I lived down there, he and I would probably be friends. My wife and I felt like we knew him forever. The weather was overcast and we ran into a rain storm on the way back and got soaked - we laughed the whole way back. In all fairness it rained all week and the sun didn’t come out until we left on Saturday. Captain Hoyt, made the trip even when it rained. What a great time we had. I will request him again and tell all my friends if they go down that way, ask for Captain Hoyt ….

My family and I had a fantastic time with Captain Hoyt. We were communicating before the fishing trip because the wind in the keys was going to to be very strong. Captain Hoty was amazing with my kids, 11 and 15. They are both Scouts and Hoyt is an Eagle Scout as well. He asked all the questions my 11 year had and taught him how to see the fish on the sonar. I had told Captain Hoty ahead of time that we were looking for fish to eat and take home then maybe something exciting. We did have a learning curve using circle hooks but Hoyt was an excellent teacher and we were pulling in Mangrove Snapper, Lane Snapper and a few other fishing. I don't remember. If you are a family doing family camp at Sea Bases Camp Sawyer, or just a family visiting the keys. Captain Hoyt is your guy. Perfect for 4 people and reasonable.
Excellent experience from start to finish. The guide was knowledgeable, professional, and made sure we were comfortable and prepared. The boat was clean,well-maintained, and well equipped. We were able to catch multiple fish. Overall, the 4-hour trip was well worth it and exceeded our expectations. I would highly recommend this fishing guide to anyone looking for a great day on the water, whether you're new to fishing or a seasoned angler. I look forward to booking another trip in the future. Captain Hoyte was a joy to spend the day with. His knowledge of not only fishing but local history of the area was outstanding! The excellent hospitality and the nonstop fish on the line made this charter above and beyond all others. I would 100% recommend that any angler looking for local flare, a great laugh, and nonstop fish on the hook book a trip with Captain Hoyte! 2 part review. My brother and I brought our lifelong friend down for a private charter for his bachelor party. I’m not much of an angler but I could fish with Capt Hoyte any day. The man is a wealth of knowledge and skill he was the captain, first mate historian and a friend on this charter. The 3 of us couldn’t ask for a better memory and tally of fish. We all caught countless breed and number of snapper on top of. Several other species my buddy capped it off with a 7’ lemon shark.. I’m over here hoping marriages don’t work out so we can go back. I fell in love with fishing at 4 years old and never looked back; I've been fishing all over Florida since. As an Eagle Scout, I began my fishing career with the Boy Scouts of America of Summerland Key in 2012, taking groups of 8 fishing in the nearby waters. I've learned a lot over the years, found tons of fishing grounds in the area, know the seasons and conditions for what target species, and know the waterways well. I've fished with both kids and adults in high and low winds, rain or shine, maintaining a safe, fun fishing experience for all to enjoy. I have been successful and enjoy deep-dropping, wreck fishing, reef fishing, deep-reef, inshore, offshore, tarpon, spearfishing, and kite-fishing…from the waters of Marathon through the Lower Keys, down and around Key West. I want to share my passion and knowledge with my guests and show an incredible, memorable experience to inspire conservation and a love for fishing.
