Neuse River inshore charter
The historic town of New Bern, North Carolina is a beautiful place to spend the day exploring all the wonderful shops, eateries, and historic locations.
One of the most beautiful and interesting destinations is the Neuse River, known for its amazing fishery.
The fish in these waters include Speckled Trout, Redfish, Black Drum, Striped Bass, Sheepshead, Cobia, Tarpon, and more with any luck.
You'll target your catch by spinning, popping, trolling, drifting, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Caylin also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly gear.
Fish caught during the trip are yours to take with you, provided they're within size and bag limits. Catch cleaning is available, so you can take your fish home and throw it right into the pan. Your next meal doesn't get any fresher than that!
If you're traveling with the family, you will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. Snacks are also a good idea so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty stomach!
Capt. Caylin welcomes you aboard a 22' Privateer bay boat that can carry up to 3 passengers. It has all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures. Live bait is on offer, but it's good to ask about this so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.
Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, just show up ready for a good time! Have in mind that some fish may have harvest limits or closed seasons. If you don't know what to expect, ask the captain.
Don't leave home without a hat, sunglasses, bottled water, and sunscreen (non-spray). If you'd like to bring other drinks, just ask.
And that's it! Your fishing trip with Fireline Fishing is just a click away.

The weather, the boat, the Captain and the cooperative fish made for a memorable day for the three of us. Captain Caylin put us on the fish within 30 minutes of leaving the dock. The action was consistent and the cooler had plenty of tasty black drum. We continued our hunt for different species. Live shrimp made for lots tugs and bait stealing pin fish. A stop on the way back for fresh shrimp at the market and we were grateful Captain cleaned our catch. Wonderful scenic fishery.
No fish caught on this guided trip, only a single bite all day. No cut or live bait supplied when 6 hours with a single bite was produced by lures. Third trip to Neuse for me and one bite out of three days (first two were not guided but had loads of locals and internet give input). It is the only body of water I have ever fished and caught nothing.

Thank you for fishing with us nevertheless. I regret your experience was less than satisfactory even after going over the allotted time at no extra cost in an effort to produce in not ideal conditions. lures do produce given the mutiple missed fish. Hope you have better luck in the future.

Being in the outdoors has always been a passion of Captain Caylin. From a kid fishing the rivers and tributaries of Virginia and North Carolina with his dad, he came to be a fishing guide. He's developed a love for the pursuit of that 'Big One' that stories are made of. While the catch is always an important bonus, the time spent with family and friends making memories, laughing, and enjoying time away from the world is what it's all about. The captain became a fishing guide 10 years ago to help people achieve just that. There's something magical about watching the sunrise over a fog-covered stream, river, or lake that makes a person feel alive.
