Looking to cast a line in Awendaw? Then Flats and Fly with Captain Griffin has a trip with your name on it!
These waters are known for Redfish, Black Drum, Sheepshead, Bonnethead Shark, and more – with any luck, they’ll make your reel scream. For these species, you’re likely to use light tackle. Capt. Griffin also offers fly fishing. Fishing on these trips is limited to catch and release.
Planning a family adventure? Kids are absolutely welcome! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise, you should bring your own. Snacks are never a bad idea so that nobody gets cranky on an empty belly!
Your adventure begins aboard a 17’ Sterling flats boat that can carry up to 2 passengers. It comes with all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. Your captain will provide rods and reels, along with lures and fly fishing equipment.
The charter boat covers your fishing license, just show up ready for some fishing! Have in mind that some fish may have harvest limits or closed seasons. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more.
Don’t leave home without sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen (non-spray), and bottled water. There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
Now’s the time to experience fishing in Awendaw for yourself, with Flats and Fly with Captain Griffin!

I was born in Roanoke, Va. My family moved to SC when I was about 10. I grew up fishing in Bass tournaments on lakes. That is where my passion began; then, I found inshore fishing while in college and devoted all my time to learning the new fishery. Now I've been guiding for 3 years, and I love every second of it! Whether I'm push poling along the flooded grass flats or chasing bull reds around the harbor, I want to share my passion for the amazing fish and wildlife we encounter. I will work hard to help you catch the fish of a lifetime and maybe teach you something along the way!
