Spend the day with Fly Fishing of Charleston and find out what the fishing in Awendaw is all about! Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Carter can tell you all about them.

Redfish, Tarpon, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Little Tunny (False Albacore), and more can be found in these waters, depending on the season. Depending on the species you're after, you may find yourself light tackle fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Carter also offers fly fishing.

Any fish caught on these trips will be released.

If you're traveling with the family, you will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Snacks are also a good idea to stay fueled throughout your trip!

You'll be fishing aboard a 17' Cayo skiff that holds up to 2 passengers. It comes with all the essentials. Rods, reels, and tackle are covered by the charter, as well as lures. Live bait is on offer, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you'll be catching it yourself.

The charter boat covers your fishing license, just show up ready for a good time! Keep in mind that you may release some fish due to regulations. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more.

Don't leave home without sunglasses, bottled water, and sunblock (non-spray). If you'd like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Now, come aboard with Fly Fishing of Charleston and get hooked!

Flood tide fishing
Half day trip on May 16, 20261 adult

Once the tide gets high enough you search the grass. Make sure your sight casting is up to par. Mine wasn't but the few fish we saw that night were missed due to my poor technique. Still the captain helped me land one redfish. Would definitely do it again but first I needed to improve my casting skills.

At just five years old, I picked up a fly rod for the first time and I've been hooked ever since. There's something almost hypnotic about watching the tail of a redfin break the surface, the rhythm of the cast, the stillness before the strike. It grabbed me early, and it never let go. Like a lot of people, it's been a dream of mine to turn my passion into a way of life. That's why I started this charter because I believe a day on the water can be more than just a fishing trip. It can be a reset, an adventure, a memory you'll carry with you. So why choose a one-man fly fishing charter over one of the big names? Simple. Big charters run like machine-efficient, but often impersonal. With me, there's no rotating staff and no handoffs. Just you and your guide from start to finish. I'm not in this for the paycheck, I'm in it because I love this sport and I want to share it with others. Every trip is personal, every experience is crafted with care, and every cast is a chance to show someone why I fell in love with fly fishing in the first place. I'm Captain Carter Allison, a local guide, lifelong angler, and the one behind every trip you book. Let's hit the water and create something unforgettable.
