Ñito II Sportfishing

4.5/5 (28 reviews)
Paseo del Mar, Quepos, PU, Costa Rica

Quepos has a fish with your name on it, so let Ñito II Sportfishing help you catch it! Your guide for the day is Captain Francisco, giving you access to years of knowledge and experience.

Capt. Francisco welcomes you aboard the Ñito II, the 23' sportfishing boat that he's been operating with his family for years. This family business is all about providing a unique and exciting offshore fishing experience. In addition, the Ñito II is equipped with everything you need for a great fishing adventure, from high-quality fishing equipment to comfort and safety at sea, and can accommodate 5 passengers.

Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Pacific Barracuda, Roosterfish, African Pompano Jack, Mahi Mahi, Grouper, Jack Crevalle, Kingfish, Blue Marlin, Cubera Snapper, Snook, Wahoo, Sailfish, and whatever else takes the bait. On these trips, you can expect to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.

The captain is happy to have kids aboard, so go ahead and bring the whole family along! Rods, reels, and tackle are ready for you, along with lures. Live bait is on offer, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you'll be catching it yourself. Capt. Francisco proudly shares his passion for fishing with all of the guests and is committed to showing you the best fishing experience possible.

Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. It's customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation. The charter boat covers your fishing license, so all you have to do is show up ready for a good time! Some fish have special regulations, but Capt. Francisco will help you follow the regulations when you fish.

"We hope you enjoy your time with us and come away with some of the best catches of your lives – let's go fishing together!" - Capt. Francisco

3/4 Day Trip - OffShore on June 7, 2025

We caught a 200-300lbs marlin, 2 mahi mahi, 2 small black fin tuna, and one 35lbs bluefin tuna. We lost the marlin and threw back the 2 small black fin tuna, but had some great fish to cook back at the house! It was a great day at sea but even if we didn’t catch anything we would have had a great time trying and getting a nice boat ride! The men are very skilled and know what they are doing! They are very nice too! They never stop trying to catch fish, use a lot of good methods, and know all of the good spots! We highly recommend them! Also the food, snacks, and drinks were great too! Very nice selection! We are totally coming back!

5-Star Review: Unforgettable Fishing Adventure with Francisco Arguedas!

VERIFIED

Half Day Trip – Inshore (AM) on March 17, 2025

Yesterday, my two sons (18 and 14) and I had the absolute best time on an inshore fishing excursion with Francisco Arguedas out of Marina Pez Vela, and I can’t recommend it enough! From start to finish, it was a perfect family adventure that left us grinning ear to ear and with a cooler full of fish for dinner. The day kicked off at 7 AM, and right away, the crew made us feel welcome. We got to try different fishing styles—trolling, bottom fishing, you name it—which kept things exciting and hands-on for my boys. The highlight? Seeing dolphins swim alongside the boat, so close we could almost touch them! They even popped up a few times throughout the trip, turning it into a wildlife show we’ll never forget. My sons were thrilled, and I couldn’t stop snapping photos. Francisco and his team went above and beyond to ensure we had a blast and brought home a catch. They shared tons of knowledge—teaching us how to fish for live bait and explaining what we were targeting (roosterfish, snapper, grouper). It was like a masterclass on the water, and my boys soaked it all up. They made every effort to get us on the fish, moving spots and adjusting tactics until we had plenty to cook for dinner—a proud moment for us to bring home fresh snapper! The little touches made it even better—snacks and cold beverages kept us fueled (the kids loved the sodas, and I appreciated the beer after reeling in a big one). The boat was comfy, the vibe was laid-back yet professional, and the crew’s passion for fishing shone through. We left at noon with stories to tell, a haul of fish, and memories that’ll last a lifetime. If you’re in Dominical or Quepos and want a family-friendly fishing trip that delivers, book with Francisco Arguedas. They’ve got the skills, the heart, and the dolphins to make it a 5-star day. Can’t wait to come back!

Great full day offshore

Full Day Trip – Offshore on February 14, 2025

We had an awesome trip. We did the full day off shore. Was skeptical at first. Then after heading out 25 miles we started trolling and 10 minutes in we had hooked our first blue marlin. We hooked and lost three more until my girlfriend got her turn on a marlin. After that. We were good. Opted to head in due to heat and plans. The captain and deckhand were honest from the time I booked until we were fishing. It is a fishing trip. Nothing guaranteed. I like that openness from them. Anyways they sure delivered. Great guys. Very respectable.

Great experience fishing in Quepos

VERIFIED

Half Day Trip – Inshore (PM) on January 6, 2025

Three of us went out for an afternoon charter with Francisco and David. The two of them were both very welcoming. We started the charter with fishing along the surf near the coast and one of us caught a rooster fish. Changing locations, we had more luck hooking up on a Mahi that unfortunately freed itself off the line. We finished the day fishing near some artificial reef and caught two large snapper. It was a great experience. David was an experienced fisherman, and again, both of them were very friendly.

My kids had an amazing experience

VERIFIED

Half Day Trip – Inshore (AM) on April 16, 2025

Went fishing on Wednesday with my two kids. At first, we didn’t have much luck, and then the captain had an accident where a hook sliced his finger. I offered to end the trip, but he insisted on continuing so the kids could have a great time. He took us deep into the ocean and extended the trip beyond the original 5 hours. We ended up catching six fish, and the kids had an unforgettable experience. Truly grateful and glad I chose this crew!
