Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Mahi Mahi, Sailfish, Blue Marlin, Blackfin Tuna, Jack Crevalle, African Pompano Jack, Needlefish, Roosterfish, and whatever else is biting. Fish caught during the trip are yours to take home, so long as they're within the legal limit. The crew can even clean your catch for you. Have a cooler ready in the car!
Looking to get the whole family outdoors? Kids are welcome! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. Snacks are also a good idea – lucky for you, there will already be some on board! They'll also provide bottled water, ice, and lite snacks. It's recommended to bring sunblock (non-spray), a hat, and sunglasses.
Ocean Surf and Sport welcomes you aboard a 31' Center console with a capacity for 12 passengers. It comes with a downrigger and everything you need for a productive day on the water. Rods, reels, and tackle are ready for you, along with lures.
There will be a First Mate on board to help your trip run smoothly. It's customary to tip the crew 10–20% to show your appreciation. Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, just show up ready for some fishing! Keep in mind that you may release some fish due to regulations. If you don't know what to expect, ask the captain.

The captain Luis and his crew mate Benjamine were incredibly helpful and knew how to navigate the waters. My only complaint was after we got our fish off of the boat, we were recommended to go to either of the two resterants by the port "The Dock" and "Tuanis" to prepare it for us and they both turned us away. We had to walk into town to Restaurante Lago Azul which did an excellent job, would highly recommend

Half Day Trip Inshore on January 1, 2025 • 4 adults • 1 childCaptain Luis and first mate Benjamin took my daughters and me out for a four hour inshore trip on the morning of New Year's day. Gabriela V (the boat) is a great vessel. It's smooth, quiet, and spacious enough for four guests to move around in. Luis had quality tackle, live bait, and snacks ready when we met them at 7:30 at Puerto San Juan. We went south from the bay a few miles and immediately found birds working bait. We trolled artificials and casted poppers, taking advantage of the action. We landed a crevalle jack, cero mackerel, white (albicore?) tuna, and a few bonito. Luis and Benjamin did a great job of working the boat and the lines to keep everything smooth. When the action died, we went to some large rocks to look for roosterfish. We casted poppers while we slowly drug live bait around the edge of the reef. I landed a bigeye trevally on a popper, while my daughter landed the prize: a beautiful pez gallo! When we got tired and the action slowed, Benjamin brought out plates of pineapple and watermelon, which is a great touch and was much appreciated! I had a number of other hits on the popper, but could never stay buttoned up. We trolled back towards the port while Luis fileted some of the fish for us. We landed one more bonito to make it an even three fish each landed. I highly recommend this vessel and crew. I appreciate that seven hours after toasting "¡Nuevo Año!" they were ready to guide us to a successful trip. Luis is a good communicator; his English is great (much better than my Spanish). They took and shared good pictures. The boat and gear were in great shape. Next time I'm in San Juan del Sur, I'll come back!

Half Day Trip Inshore on June 15, 2024 • 2 adults6-Hour Ballyhoo Trip - This solid boat rides well with Suzuki 225 engine and gets out to deep waters quickly. We had a nice escort with dozens and dozens of Porpoise joining us on the way out. One Sea Turtle was only a spectator. Captain Luis and First Mate Allan knew how to handle the boat well and give instruction when a fish was on. I told the captain my desired target was Dorado and he told me the latest catch on the day before was sailfish and marlin. Well, fishing is fishing and you catch what you catch. I've caught myself my share of bill fish and wanted the excellent meat Dorado provides. I wasn't disappointed with two very nice Dorado and one catch and release Sailfish Captain Luis estimated to be approximately 10 feet long. That's about as big as a Pacific Sailfish in these waters get. Lost another sailfish with a broken hook and one marlin. Quality of photos was not the best but the fishing was great!

The day was a combination of trolling, bait fishing for grouper and casting poppers towards some rocks. It was a pretty good day out and the crew Alan and Luis were a good laugh to be around who will put in that extra effort to make your day enjoyable.

We spent the day with Captain Luis and First Mate Benjamin. The fishing was slow with a small catch of Black Fin Tuna and Bonita. After that there was nothing for a very long time. The day was close to over when we had respectable size Dorado on our lines and caught simultaneously. They were soon on board and on the dinner table last night with plenty to eat for the rest of our week in San Juan del Sur. Captain Luis recalled my previous visit with him 2 years ago in detail down to the rain and sea conditions. A ten foot sailfish and the largest Dorado I’ve ever seen. Don’t gamble with just any charter. I live in Florida and lived in Alaska 6 years. I know fish and charter crews. You can be confident Captain Luis will provide the best experience any charter captain can provide on the water. He works hard getting you on the fish and knows these waters like the back of his hands with over 22 years experience. The crew at OSS provided cold water, sliced watermelon, pineapple and the best cerviche around. So, I highly recommend Captain Luis and OSS!

We caught 7 mahi-mahi and 1 tuna! Captain Luis never gave up and stayed determined until my daughter caught her very first tuna, which made the day incredibly special. Mate Guillermo was also outstanding. He kept everything organized, was always there to help when needed, and even prepared fresh fruit for us throughout the trip. This was truly an amazing family experience, and we couldn’t have asked for a better crew. Highly recommend!

I do a lot of fishing in Florida, but after the experience I had here it was amazing. The boat was very nice. Luis knew exactly what to do how to turn into where the tuna was or the other fish was like he knows the water and the birds exactly with the fishes and every time he decide to go One Direction we used to get on a fish trolling myself in my three daughters and we all got several times to bring a fish aboard. Highly recommend definitely would do it again.
