Welcome to Greatland Guide Service! We are a family-owned fishing charter in Ninilchik, Alaska which is one of the best locations to experience Alaska's Halibut fishing!

For us, the name of the game is Halibut. The Cook Inlet has the 2nd strongest tides in the world, so finding a good tide is key to catching the Halibut since they are bottom feeders. The tide will change from high to low in 6 hours, so that is your window of opportunity for catching a nice Halibut.

Since 1991, we have hosted Halibut charters in Cook Inlet for parties of up to 6 people. Our captains, Alan Goins or Chaz Gustines, will take you and your friends out on the Greatlander, which is a 28' boat equipped with state-of-the-art gear to make the best of your time on the water. There's a toilet on board for your convenience.

Children are welcome aboard, so feel free to make it a family trip. Fish caught during the trip are yours to take home, so long as they're within the legal limit. The crew can even clean your catch for you. Have a cooler ready in the car!

We will provide all equipment and bait for you. Just be sure to bring your fishing license, lunch, and rain gear! (NEW 2026 Per person, per day NOAA halibut stamp $20 in addition to your trip cost.) We also offer deluxe lodging near our charter office that comes with what our clients call 'A Million Dollar View.' Don't forget to pick up souvenirs, art, and Alaska logo wear in our gift shop!

Book your Halibut trip today and make memories for a lifetime with Greatland Guide Service!

Great trip!!
6 Hour Trip – Halibut (Shared) on June 12, 20265 adults

The captain and deck hand were awesome. They knew right where to go. They knew the spots and how to play the tides and the currents. We had a blast catching halibut, some cod and a small pollock made its way onto the boat. Pricing to filet, process, and freeze the fish for us was very affordable. We would highly recommend this experience with Captain Chaz and Nathan with Greatland Guide Service.

Capt. Chaz and 1st mate, Nathan, were great. They shared everything from understanding the tides to all of the insights about halibut. They did everything to make sure everyone caught their limits. Great trip!

I've been a chapter operator in the Cook Inlet for 30 years! You will not find another captain in our area with as much experience as I have. A master fisherman that you won't find elsewhere. Word of mouth is our best advertising!
