Based in Tavernier Florida, Sun King Charters is your ticket to a memorable reef fishing experience. Capt Aaron takes the steps to bring a fun, no nonsense easy fishing day on these beautiful waters.

Depending on the time of year, you might hook into Red Grouper, Kingfish, Barracuda, Shark, Spanish Mackerel, Mutton Snapper, Yellowtail Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, and whatever else takes the bait. During the trip, you might be light tackle fishing, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.

Planning a family adventure? Kids are absolutely welcome! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board.

The charter trip covers all of your fishing license & permit requirements. If you still aren't totally sure what to expect - please ask the Capt.

You'll be fishing from a 25' Sea Hunt Gamefish
that holds up to 6 passengers.
Boat comes with a T-Top for shade, Type-1 life vests, comfortable seating and a toilet on board for your convenience. Capt. Aaron has rods and reels for you and bait is also provided.

It's never a bad idea to bring sunglasses, sunscreen, bottled water, and a hat. If you'd like to bring other drinks - please do. Alcohol is permitted. Sun King has an ice chest on board for your drinks/snacks or feel free to bring your own cooler.

Fantastic day on the water!

Early Riser Half Day Reef Trip on March 30, 2026 • 4 adults

Captain Aaron was a great choice for our family of four with two elementary school aged kids. We initially wanted to do a near shore trip on Monday - but a week before, the weather shifted, and after some discussion Capt Aaron recommended in shore trip. He repriced and replanted the trip, so we caught a few dozen snappers with enough keepers for lunch. We were also fortunate to see manatees! Could not recommend Capt Aaron highly enough - no regrets, amazing communication, and a phenomenal day on the water!

3 Hour Reef Fishing Trip - 1:00 PM on February 24, 2026 • 2 adults • 2 children

We went out today with Sun King Charters and had an excellent experience. Captain Aaron was fantastic with our young kids, patient, engaging, and made sure everyone was comfortable and having fun. The boat was very clean, well-kept, and comfortable, which made a big difference for our family. We had some questionable weather, but Captain Aaron worked hard to find a small weather window and was able to get us out safely, which we really appreciated. Overall, it was a great trip and a memorable experience for our family. I would highly recommend Sun King Charters for your next Florida Keys fishing trip.

Really Fun Trip

Half Day Reef Trip on February 17, 2026 • 4 adults

Captain Aaron is great! He knows where to find the fish, and he is great at helping rig, bait, and cast rods. Our foursome really enjoyed a beautiful half day of sun, relaxing music, and fishing, and Aaron made it easy and enjoyable. We would go back out with Aaron again any time! As a side note, I have been on other charters where the captain and/or first mate treated the female passengers paternalistically. Aaron never made me feel second rate or like less of a fisherman, and you have no idea how refreshing that is. I don't think it would even occur to Aaron to treat his male and female passengers differently, which really meant a lot to me. Extra kudos to Aaron for being an all-around good human!

We had an absolutely fantastic chartered fishing trip in the Florida Keys this past weekend to celebratemy son's birthday, and Captain Aaron made it truly special! From the moment we stepped aboard, his professionalism and expertise shone through. He's incredibly well-spoken and tailored his coaching to each fisherman's experience level — whether beginner or seasoned, everyone felt supported and learned something new. We caught some great fish, enjoyed the beautiful scenery, and created memories we'll cherish forever. We can't wait to book with Captain Aaron again — highly recommend him for anyone looking for a top-notch, personalized fishing experience! Five stars all the way!

Amazing Reef Fishing — Can’t Recommend Enough

Half Day Reef Trip on January 24, 2026 • 3 adults

We had an incredible day fishing the reefs with Captain Aaron and absolutely crushed it. We caught a bounty of fish and had a blast from start to finish. Captain Aaron was super accommodating, incredibly kind, and clearly knows these waters inside and out. He put us on fish, shared tons of knowledge, and made sure everyone was having a great time the whole trip. If you’re looking for an unforgettable fishing experience with a captain who truly cares, this is it. Couldn’t recommend Captain Aaron and this trip enough.
