These waters are known for Red Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, Vermilion Snapper, Mahi Mahi, Amberjack, Kingfish, Cobia, Red Grouper, and more – with any luck, it won’t take long to hook into some. You can expect to do some fishing with heavy tackle, trolling, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.

If you’re traveling with the family, you will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Any fish within the legal limit is yours to keep. Plus, you can have your catch cleaned. Now that’s dinner!

You’ll be casting lines from a 31’ Ocean Master that holds up to 6 passengers. Your Captain and deckhand will supply rods and reels for you. You’ll need to purchase a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain.

You’ll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. Mates often work for tips, and it’s customary to offer them a 10–20% tip. It’s always wise to bring snacks, drinks, sunglasses, and sunblock (non-spray). Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. Some species may be off-limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
