Depending on the season, you might hook into Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Rainbow Trout (Steelhead), and plenty more. During the trip we will be trolling.

Planning a family adventure? Kids are absolutely welcome! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise, you should bring your own. Also, remember to bring snacks so that nobody gets cranky on an empty belly!

Your vessel for the day is a 32’ Wellcraft offshore sport fishing vessel that holds up to 6 passengers. It has downriggers and everything else you need for a productive day on the water. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will provide rods and reels, as well as lures.

You will need to purchase a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect. Don’t forget to bring sunscreen (non-spray), bottled water, and sunglasses. If you’d like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Great time, fishing was quiet to start, but fish started hitting and then a frenzy

Sunrise fishing captains favorite on May 16, 2025 • 6 adults

Rocky is an experienced captain and fisherman. It was obvious as the day started slow, perhaps due to the storms the night before, Rocky put us on some nice Coho salmon and one catch of the day, brown trout. I was happy to get my first fish on the boat (after losing my first two). We had a group of three and we each had 3 fish, thinking it was a pretty good haul for the trip. Then suddenly a fish frenzy happened and three more salmon were added to our total! It was so exciting getting those last three fish in about 15 minutes! Rocky and Krystle were so professional and friendly. I would recommend Threel Seekers to everyone who wants to have fun fishing on Lake Michigan with great catch results

Tough bite, but fun trip.

My group of 5 (2 kids, 3 adults) had scheduled a 11am departure. Cap. Rocky called and let us know the bite had been tough and encouraged us to move up to a morning trip for a better chance, good thing we did. We o my caught fish before the time we were scheduled to leave. The bite was tough, Cap. Rocky, kept working switching up as needed, calling other Captain buddies and trying to find the fish. Our kids had fun even with the slow bite, he answered questions and was conversational the whole time. It was a great day even though the fish didn’t cooperate. I’d go again.

Took the whole family out on a sunset trip. Captain Rocky was great about explaining everything in detail, helping the kids enjoy the experience and land the fish, and worked very hard to get us on as many fish as possible even in tougher conditions/timing. Fun and entertaining the whole time along with some pretty awesome fishing and views of the sunset. Would highly recommend to anyone!

We had a wonderful experience with Capt Rocky and first mate Crystal on Threel Seekers late afternoon charter excursion. They were very friendly, knowledgeable, has great equipment and made our experience extra special for our 13yr old grandson. We definitely look forward to booking with them again!!!

From the get-go, Captain Rocky was amazing! His boat was perfect, lots of rods and different set-ups for a variety of depths. We (2 people) were on the water for about six hours. Caught some good fighting fish! Great guide. Great experience. Highly recommend.
