Reel Smooth Guide Service is located in Galveston, Texas, and offers bay fishing trips throughout the entire Galveston Bay complex. Owned and operated by Capt. Michael Meza, the charter service provides fun family friendly and corporate Texas fishing trips.
Capt. Michael fishes aboard a 25' Majek Extreme center console boat that accommodates up to 5 guests. The boat is equipped with top of the line electronics, two huge livewells, an oxygen system for bait, a power pole, and a jack plate. The boat gives a very comfortable ride, and has plenty of space, with bucket seats and dry storage on board for all to use.
During your trip, you can try out wade fishing, drift fishing or anchored fishing throughout the inshore Galveston Bay. You can either use live bait or artificial lures to target Speckled Trout, Redfish, Flounder, Sheepshead, Black Drum and more, or you can travel further out to experience some exciting Shark action. Please note, live bait comes at an extra cost.
You will be supplied with high-quality tackle, with Shimano reels and Redtail rods making up a large part of the gear used. Whether you want to practice spin casting or bait casting, Capt. Michael will be able to provide what you need.

3/4 Day Trip on June 24, 2025 • 2 adultsCaptain Mike took a couple of South Louisiana boys (my 14 yr old son and I) out for a half day trip on Galveston Bay. Learned a new technique (dredge fishing), specs were large and plentiful, and my son caught a new PB 24 incher. Captain Mike was great to deal with. Communication was easy, and appreciated his openness about what species were biting at this time of year. Boat was in great condition with plenty of room. Would definitely recommend him as a guide!

WINTER SPECIAL 2024 on September 7, 2023 • 2 adultsWe ended our week in Texas by going on a fishing trip with Captain Mike. From the beginning to the end was a great time. Fishing did start out a little bit slow, which is by no means the guides fault, you cant tell the fish when to bite, however, we did catch some fish us Iowans have never heard of! We caught redfish (that put up a great fight), black drum, and trout. (we had no idea saltwater trout was a thing, or that they had teeth!) Along with the fish we caught, we did also see some dolphins. For bait we did do the live bait option which does cost extra but it was recommended for our trip. I wasn't counting but we caught probably almost 10 fish throughout the trip. Since it did start out slow, Mike was generous enough to give us 30 extra minutes, which is when we caught some nice redfish. This was overall a great experience, Captain Mike was very nice and easy to have a conversation with, and even educated us on the fish we were catching. He also does take pictures for you and sends them to you after your trip so you can enjoy your fishing and still have pictures, this was a huge plus for me! No complaints from us and memories we won't forget. Thanks, Captain Mike!
