The Big Anchovy is a unique, small boat, private fishing charter. One to four people can fish comfortably aboard the 2025 Stabicraft, model 2050 supercab. Powered by a 175 HP Yamaha outboard, “penelope rose” is a beast of a boat, equipped with Garmen electronics, Scotty downriggers, a live bait tank, and many more features. Rods, reels, bait, and tackle are all provided.
Launching out of Santa Cruz Harbor, you can have the opportunity to fish anywhere from Moss Landing to Ano Nuevo and all the local nearshore and offshore reefs in between. Target species include Halibut, Rockfish, Lingcod, Salmon, Dungeness crab, and Bluefin Tuna. You can also expect to see whales, dolphins, sea lions, and birds, as Monterey Bay is loaded with wildlife.
Be sure to bring a current fishing license, which can be purchased at your local West Marine or online. Captain Erik can assist if needed. Also, pack the food and drink of your choice. Alcohol is okay, but please, no glass. Your catch will be cleaned, filleted, and bagged for you to transport home.

Captain Erik was easy to work with from the moment I booked the trip. He always kept us in the loop and was willing to give us extra information before the trip. Once we started the trip, Erik took us directly where the fish were and it felt like we were reeling in fish from the beginning to end. Erik made the trip fun, relaxing, and always kept it professional. If you want to catch the boats limit, be on a new boat with top of the line equipment (garmin gps, shimano reels, etc) this is the guy to book. Will definitely go again in the future.

We were fortunate to catch a few fish, including one take home lingcod. Erik was incredibly helpful, assisting with baiting hooks, offering tips, and even helping to clean our catch at the end of the day.
