These waters are known for Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Yellowtail Amberjack, Mahi Mahi, Rockfish, Halibut, and more – with any luck, they'll make your reel scream. You may find yourself spinning, popping, trolling, drifting, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Sebastien also offers kite fishing. For the more adventurous among you, there's spearfishing.
If you're traveling with the family, you will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Snacks are also a good idea – lucky for you, there will already be some on board!
Capt. Sebastien runs a 34' Center console that holds up to 4 passengers. It has outriggers and everything you need for a productive day on the water. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Rods, reels, and tackle are provided, as well as lures. Live bait is available, but you should ask the captain whether you'll be catching it yourself.
You may have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. It's customary to tip the Mate and your Captain 20% to show your appreciation. Before coming aboard, you may need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off-limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
A few items to bring include sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), and bottled water. Drinks and snacks will be available for you. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid glass bottles.

We had such a great time with Captain Sebastien! Our goal was to find fish for my 8 yr. old son and 11 yr. old nephew to catch, and it was a huge success. We trolled for yellowtail a bit before fishing inshore La Jolla, where the boys caught several species of fish and had a blast. Captain Sebastien was incredibly patient with the boys, answering questions and helping them every time they needed it without ever making them feel rushed. His boat was clean, comfortable, and very well maintained, and he made sure everyone on board was having a great time. As a bonus, the boys got to sit up front with the captain and we stopped by to see the sea lions! Can’t recommend Captain Sebastien enough!
I booked this fishing charter as a birthday surprise for my boyfriend, and it ended up being one of the best experiences we’ve had together. From start to finish, everything was seamless and enjoyable. The captain was incredibly kind, personable, and made us feel comfortable right away. You can tell he genuinely loves what he does- he was super knowledgeable, gave great tips, and made sure we were having a great time the entire trip. It was the perfect mix of fun, relaxation, and a little adventure. The whole experience felt thoughtful and well run, which made it even more special for a birthday celebration. We made such great memories out on the water, and I would absolutely book with them again without hesitation. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun, memorable day!

We had a great 4-hour trip with Captain Sebastian. We caught Calico Bass, Rock Fish, Barracuda, and a Yellowtail Tuna! The boat got us to the fishing spots super quick and it had everything we needed for a fun day on the water. Will definitely book Reel Deep again the next time we’re in San Diego.
