Captain and deck hand were friendly, but used the same gear, depth, etc the whole trip even when we weren’t catching fish. Had the fish been biting on what they were using I’m sure it would have been a better trip, but they didn’t try to change things up when we weren’t catching. We only caught a small Spanish Mackerel and a few very small Bonito, saw some whales, a stingray, lots of dolphins, and a couple of large sea turtles so was a decent day, but as a fishing trip it was kind of a bust. I know that anyone can get skunked, and I could possibly have made it better by asking them to try new things, but assumed they would without me asking and by the time I realized there was no plan B it was time to head in. Lesson learned for me.
