If you’re going to cast a line in Key West, look no further than Flats Fever. Your guide for the day is Captain Rick, so you’ll benefit from 50 years of professional experience as a one boat, one captain operation.
Depending on the season, you might hook into Tarpon, Permit, Bone Fish, Jack Crevalle, Cobia,Trout, Pompano and Spinner Shark, and whatever else is biting. Capt. Rick also offers fly fishing, all gear included. welcomes anglers of all ages, including kids,
Your excursion begins aboard an 18’5 Master Angler Maverick flats boat with a capacity for 3 passengers. The third person is an extra $50 dollars. It comes with all the essentials. Rods, reels, and tackle are covered by the charter, as well as lures. Live bait and flies. I have top of the line gear, and have everything for the day except what ever you car to eat and drink.
There’s no need to buy a fishing license, just show up ready for some fishing! Keep in mind that you may release some fish due to regulations. If you don’t know what to expect, ask the captain. It’s recommended to bring bottled water, sunblock (non-spray), and sunglasses. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. I have a great boat, and cover the ground. I'll take you to some beautiful places where you won't see another boat. I fish hard and get away from the crowds. Plan on leaving out early, best bite is before sun rise.

3/4 Day Trip – Flats Fishing
‘It’s like fishing in an aquarium’
Our fishing trip with Flatz Fever, headed by Captain Rick Magner, was an unforgettable experience, though not quite for the reasons we had hoped. Captain Rick, a seasoned fisherman of 38 years, navigated us through the waters of Key West with apparent confidence. However, our day took a startling turn when we were pulled over by the Coast Guard. This tense encounter stemmed from Captain Rick’s decision to park in front of a cruise ship, leading to a visibly exasperated reaction when asked to move his boat. Unfortunately, our hopes of catching fish were dashed. Despite Rick’s assurances and his choice of bait/lures—an unpleasantly stinky variety and small plugs for casting at rolling tarpon—we did not manage to reel in a single catch. The combination of questionable parking choices and ineffective bait made for a disappointing outing. While Captain Rick’s colorful personality added some flair to the trip, the overall experience left much to be desired.
