Welcome aboard!

King Tide Charters provides a first-class, fully guided fishing experience, departing from our private dock in Sooke BC,  a stone’s throw away from the productive Salmon and Halibut fishing grounds of the Juan de Fuca Strait.

Cruise the Juan in style aboard a custom 22’ Boston Whaler Outrage, featuring top-of-the-line power, and premium fishing equipment, guided by Captain Andrew, a seasoned professional with a passion for fishing.

Take in the breathtaking scenery and stunning west coast views, while exploring the waters of legendary Sooke fishing hot spots like Otter Point, Secretary Island, Trap Shack, and many more.

We are blessed to have all five Pacific Salmon species in our waters throughout the season. On our trips, we can target prized Chinook (King) Salmon, and Coho (Silver) Salmon, but often get into Chum, Pinks, and Sockeye.

The action doesn’t stop there!  With a thriving bottom fishery on our doorstep, guests have the opportunity to book a specialized trip, including full day fishing for monster Halibut, Lingcod, and Rockfish. The local Sooke Halibut record is 328 lbs!!

Crabbing is also excellent and it is not uncommon to pull up our traps full of large Dungeness Crabs, on the way back to the dock!

We expertly clean and filet your catch back at the dock, so you can take home your fresh harvest with ease.

Whether you’re an expert rod or brand new to the sport, King Tide Charters provides an enjoyable, and rewarding experience on the water for all types of anglers.

Before the day of your fishing trip, please ensure all anglers have purchased a recreational tidal angling license for the pacific region and add the salmon conservation stamp. Licences are available online through the DFO’s rec licensing website.

This is mandatory requirement for all anglers*

Multi Species - Full Day on June 28, 2024

Booking at smooth and efficient. Captain Andrew was quick and responsive. Everything was stated accurately and he was very helpful in preparing me for the trip. The trip started targeting bottom fishing for halibut and we caught a massive skate. We trolled for salmon and ended up catching 14. Mostly returning everything following local regs. All fish went back healthy as we watched them swim to deep water. We later went bottom fishing and caught some nice rockfish. We also went twice to drop a crab trap for our limit of Dungeness. Also on the trip we saw a lot of natural wildlife such as eagles fishing, porpoises right around the boat eating bait fish, seals and sea lions. Captain Andrew was friendly, accommodating, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to be with. He helped make this trip the best fishing charter experience I ever had. I would high recommend for this type of trip.

Salmon - Half Day AM on June 15, 2024

Captain Andrew is very friendly and informative. I was worried my son would get sea sick but he had such a good time that it never hit him. The scenery was amazing. We caught a couple fish but lost a few salmon trying to reel it in. The crab catch (5) was a very special surprise and it was so delicious! Thank you Captain Andrew for the memorable experience. My son is pumped to come back to do some more fishing!

Salmon - Half Day AM on August 12, 2024

Andrew absolutely crushed it this morning. With a quick transit to the fishing area we were making use of our time instantly and it only took minutes to hook into numerous huge Chinook and coho. Amazing scenery and atmosphere made for a really great day. Look no further if you are looking for elite guiding experience and very efficient fishing. A++++, I'll be booking again. Thanks 🙌

Salmon - Dusk Bite on June 7, 2024

Booked a last minute dusk troll fishing charter while in the area - Andrew was easy to communicate with before, during, and after our trip. He is very knowledgeable about fishing and the area. The fish weren’t biting that evening, but my dad and I had a great time chatting with Andrew for a few hours. Will definitely book with Andrew again for our next guided trip on the island!

angler's choice

The Angler's Choice Award is given to listings that consistently deliver a high-quality service and earn great reviews from customers.

I inherited my passion for fishing. Since I was old enough to hold up my grandfather’s spey rod in Scotland. I was hooked. I grew up fishing in Canada, listening to stories of prized, hard-fighting Salmon. And have been lucky enough to fish year-round and across the globe, at every opportunity. I cut my teeth as a sportfishing guide in Haida Gwaii, guiding a wide variety of different anglers at the world-renowned, coveted, Langara Fishing Lodge. I spent three seasons fishing Langara island and obtained over 3000 guided hours as a resident guide, earning my PhD in Chinook Salmon and Halibut fishing. I realized up north that, I not only love fishing and guiding guests to trophy fish, but I truly enjoy sharing my passion and enthusiasm for fishing with others and creating lifelong memories and relationships, on the water. When I am not guiding, you can likely find me fly fishing on the rivers, lakes, and streams, we are blessed to have here on beautiful Vancouver Island or traveling to the interior of Idaho and Montana in search of trophy bull trout. I look forward to fishing with you and until then, Tight Lines, Captain Andrew
