Costa Rica has a fish with your name on it, so let Amberjack Tours help you catch it! Having logged many hours on these tides, our respected captain is prepared to put you on fish.
Top targets for offshore and inshore trips include Sailfish, Marlin, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Yellowfin Tuna, Amberjack, Red Snapper, Cubera Snapper, Geouper,, and more, depending on the time of year and whether you book an inshore or offshore trip.
Trolling can be used for both offshore and inshore charters. Inshore fishing trips can be reef fishing, bottom fishing, jigging, popping, and more.
Amberjack operates a 28' Sportfishing Yacht that will accommodate up to 6 fishermen. It comes with outriggers, downriggers, a fighting chair, and all the essentials. There's a bathroom on board for your convenience.
We carry only high-end tournament-grade equipment and tackle including PENN International Rods, Reels, teasers, dredge bars, and live bait are all used and included in the price.
There will be a First Mate as well as an additional fisherman/service mate on board to help your trip run smoothly. Mates and captains work hard to make your trip count, so a 15-25% tip is customary.
Before coming aboard, you'll need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information will be provided to you before your charter and the licenses are purchased online. Some species (billfish) are protected and are catch & release only.
It's never a bad idea to bring sunscreen (non-spray), a hat, and sunglasses. If you'd like to bring other drinks, just ask. Liquor is allowed (beer is provided) but please deink in moderation for your own safety. (Please do not bring aboard glass bottles.)
Beer, wine, Coke-branded sodas, flavored teas, and bottled water are included on all of our private charters. Hummus & vegetables, fruit platter, and snacks are provided on all trips. 6 and 8-hour charters on the Amberjack boat include fresh sandwiches. Chef lunch is available for only $10 per person

3/4 Day- Offshore or Inshore on August 5, 2026 • 3 adults • 1 childMy two boys and I had an epic ¾ day offshore charter with Amberjack. Captain Carlos and First Mate Denis worked hard as a team to deliver a great experience. I told them I wanted to target Sailfish and Mahi and they delivered! We landed our first of three sailfish in less than 30 minutes after they deployed the trolling gear. Then it was on to mahi and we hooked one up quickly. Then we switched gear and hauled in 15 plus grouper plus a couple of tilefish. The crew also took good care of us with plenty of drinks, snacks and some tasty shredded beef burritos. My older son was feeling under the weather from food poisoning the day before and the crew did their best to keep him comfortable as well. The boat was well equipped with quality gear, a large sunshade, clean toilet and comfortable cabin. In summary, we had a great time and would heartily recommend this outfitter to others.

Full Day -Offshore or Inshore on May 27, 2026 • 6 adults • 1 childMy family of 6 decided to fish with the Amberjack for our trip to Costa Rica based on all of the solid reviews. Capt Carlos and First Mate Dennis were amazing! the boat was extremely comfortable and the gear was top of the line Penn and Shimanos! Capt Carlos and First Mate Dennis worked hard for us all day and ran far to get us to the fish! We landed 3 beautiful sailfish, had several more bites and finished the day catching groupers and tile fish to eat. 3 drops and we had all the fish we wanted to eat! First mate Dennis made us lunch on the boat as well as fresh fruit, chips and salsa for snacks! they had plenty of cold drinks for us including water, a variety of fruit juices, a variety of soft drinks, and of course cold beer! Wonderful fishing with theses guys! will definitely fish with them again next time we come down here! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The mates work exceptionally hard! For two days I never seen a bait trolled imperfect for more than 10 seconds before it was changed.Besides fishing their hospitality was second to none, always making snacks are grabbing drinks for us. They really really go above and beyond. If you’re looking to catch fish and be in company of the friendliest group of guys there are this is the charter for you.

3/4 Day- Offshore or Inshore on March 9, 2026 • 2 adultsHi, I highly recommend this Crew and boat. Everything was amazing from the start. The crew communicated and answered all my questions up until the day of the trip. Crew, Carlos, Dennis and Brandon were so accommodating and genuine, always putting us first and their top priority. The day started as planned Sun was bright and expectations were high as we left the harbor I knew the wind would play a big part of the day and it did, as later morning came the wind and swell intensified and crew made sure we were ok and kept us top priority. My better half started to get sea sick and once again the crew Dennis and Brandon were attentive to the situation and making every effort to make the experience enjoyable for her and me…..At about 11am the captain yells out “Pez Bella” “Pez Bella” and it was on!!!!! my sweatheart snaps out of the sea sick and becomes the videographer and once again the crew went into topnotch outfit and met all of our expectations and handled every set of having a fish of a lifetime or trophy bost side, putting my hands on such a beautiful fish while photos and video was happening I cant describe the emotions i had for life at the momment!!!! I had just lost my father 30 days earlier and this was a moment as to something blessing me from a higher place, the Sailfish was beautiful and a reminder that life is short and beautiful so enjoy it and fish it well. I am still on cloud nine and planning the next trip and yes!!!! will be with this Amazing crew Carlos, Dennis and Brandon onboard the Amberjack!!!!! Thank you all for now till we do it again!!!

Two 40 lb yellowfin and memories for a lifetime!
Full Day -Offshore or Inshore on November 25, 2025 • 5 adultsAmber and her husband Julio were responsive and attentive to all of our questions leading up to our trip. They made finding the boat so easy and were prompt and welcoming! We booked a full day and My husband and 12 year old son went fishing in the am and then my daughters and I joined at 3 for a boat ride and snorkeling. It was the most amazing trip all around. Highlight for my son and husband was 2 x 40lb plus yellowfin tuna!! Highlight for the girls were schools of fish close enough to touch! We LOVED AMBERJACK AND WILL BOOK AGAIN NEXT YEAR FOR SURE!

Not only did I get to land multiple sailfish from chair and belt, but my girlfriend got a monster 60kg sail!! Also cant forget to mention a nice mahi for dinner which was fileted and vacuum sealed for us. Highly recommend Amberjack if you’re ready to fight some billfish!

3/4 Day- Offshore or Inshore on July 28, 2026 • 4 adultsWe did some sport fish trolling and bottom fishing and took home a massive mahi mahi, massive fortune jack, tilefish, and grouper. We also caught a sailfin and got some great photos with it. Burritos were amazing also. The boat had a serviceable toilet, enough drinks, and a smooth ride. Thank you!

Full Day -Offshore or Inshore on January 8, 2026 • 4 adultsWe had a great day fishing with Captain Carlos and mates Dennis and Brandon. We released a striped marlin and a sailfish, and we took a quick break from trolling to jig up a few grouper for dinner. The crew cautioned us in the morning that fishing had been slow, but they worked hard to get us into the fish and provided amazing snacks, lunch, and plenty of cervezas throughout the day. Great experience and would highly recommend fishing with Amberjack!

Had a great full day off shore trip. Caught Sailfish, Mahi, Snapper, Grouper, Amberjack, and several others. Captain and crew were very friendly, helpful, and flexible with what we were hoping to do. Boat was very nice with good shade, good indoor cover if rain, good toilet,…. Lunch, snacks, and drinks way better than you would ever expect on a fishing charter (very nice). All spoke english and easy to communicate with. Amber is great to deal with when booking. Repeat customers with this boat, and will repeat again.
