Species like Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Rainbow Trout (Steelhead), Sturgeon, Crab, and more inhabit these waters if conditions are right. For these species, you’re likely to troll using heavy tackle.
Reese welcomes anglers of all ages, including kids, so feel free to make a family day out of it! 6 yrs and younger fish for free! If you don’t have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there’s one on board. Snacks are never a bad idea so that nobody gets cranky on an empty stomach!
Your boat for the day is a 21’ Willie aluminum fishing boat with space for 4 passengers. It has all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. (If needed, you can run back to shore really quick, take care of business, and get back to fishing!) Capt. Reese will supply rods and reels for you, as well as lures.
Before coming aboard, you will be required to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect. Don’t forget to bring sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), bottled water, and a hat. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Get the right season
We were in northern Oregon during an 85 degree heat wave. Obviously the fish were at the bottom in a hole. However we did land three and lost a couple early in the morning. We are scheduling a return trip between mid August and early September. Can’t give you a better recommendation than we are booking another trip.

Great fishing trip
Took my parents on a fishing trip. We drove up from Arizona. Captain Reese was very detailed in his instructios and responsive to all my texts. The day before our fishing expedition we talked about what we needed to bring with us and where we will meet. We got there at the time we agreed to and Reese was there waiting and ready to go. His boat was clean and there was plenty of room for all of us. His fishing gear was great. He is a great pilot on the water. My parents are older and I felt like he was considerate while navigating waves and slowed the boat down so we didn't land hard. He also entertained my parents and all their questions. I would definitely recommend Captain Reese Johnson to everyone I know and I will be going fishing with him hopefully in the near future. I can't thank Reese enough for the great time we all had.

Great guy to fish with
Reese is a very knowledgeable guy. He made the trip very comfortable and he was very easy going. We talked for hours, caught some big sturgeon, had a few laughs as well! I cannot say enough about our experience with Reese Johnson guide service. I will definitely be booking with him the next time I am back this way.

GREAT GUY AND A PRO
Reese was fantastic, we were traveling up the coast from San Diego for vacation and had limited time to make this happen. Reese was able to meet all our needs. He was on time, fully prepared, when above and beyond for us. we were the only ones that caught a fish that day at the dock. We also hit our limit in crab. Absolute great day. I will be saving his info for future trips for sure.

Reese provided great expertise and a fun experience. He knew the places to go to give the best opportunity to get bites despite it being toward the end of salmon season. Eating the large coho we caught for dinner tonight! We also saw several whale nearby and a pod of porpoises. An incredible experience. Would go again and highly recommend Reese!
