A new friend showed me pictures of his day out with Chilo and had consistently caught fish with him over the years. I booked Chilo the next day and it was INCREDIBLE! My goal was to catch a Rooster fish but Chilo recommended we fish for monster grouper as the Rooster Fish hadn't been around with the dirty water. I took him up on his years of experience and boy was I happy I did. To start, he was the first boat to leave the shore that morning. We then went and caught many live bait that he kept alive in his live well throughout the day. We motored out maybe 15-20 mins and used sonar to put us in the perfect spot and we found them We hooked 6 and landed 4 monster Grouper in just under a few hours. To honor my initial request we even explored the coast for some roster fish on the way back. While looking for the rooster fish we found a Spanish mackerel which he made the most amazing ceviche on board. It was truly a magical day on the water. Chilo is an amazing fisherman and even better person. His English is excellent and he is a great teacher and understanding when you mess things up like I did a few times!! If you are in Sayulita and want to catch fish you must fish with Chilo. He is also extremely responsive when asking questions to book your trip. Book early as with his talent his dates will fill up fast!

The perfect day on the water in Sayulita! Chilo put me on my dream fish! I've been chasing rooster fish for 5 years with several different guides and Chilo made it happen. You're lucky if you get one rooster fish in your lifetime and once we were in them I was reeling in one after another. A dream come true. Chilo made fresh ceviche on the boat in a calm bay after fishing. Perfecto. Chilo thinks like a fish. He fishes hard and finds them. He's a true local that knows the water better than any I've met in Sayulita. He makes it a good time, every time . THIS TRIP IS PERFECT FOR ANYONE AND EVERYONE :) -one very satisfied señorita

We visited Sayulita during Christmas break and planned to fish while we were there. I reached out to Chilo prior to our trip and he was very quick to respond. I told him that I would like to take my boys (ages 9 and 6) with me and get them some experience. He assured me that it would be safe and an enjoyable experience for them. Not only did he locate the fish, but most importantly, he made sure my boys were having fun and getting to reel in some fish! Chilo was very knowledgeable about the area and target species. As a bonus, we also got to do some whale watching and took some great videos. If you're looking for a great experience, Chilo is your guy. I've been on several guided fishing trips all over the world and this one is easily at the top of my list. I'll be back again to fish with Chilo again someday.

If you're in the Punta Mita area, I would highly recommend this charter. Captain Chilo and his first mate, Fernando, were extremely knowledgeable and skilled about finding the good spots for Mahi-Mahi fishing when we went. We ended up taking home 4 Mahi keepers which a nearby local restaurant in Sayulita helped prepare them as fresh ceviche and fish tacos. The boat was comfortable and the crew provided cold drinks.
