Make an adventure out of your next trip to Midland and go fishing with Smooth River Guiding. With Captain Matt at the helm, you’re in knowledgeable and experienced hands.

These waters are known for Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Muskellunge (Musky), Carp, Freshwater Drum, Bowfin, Walleye, and more – with any luck, you’ll have tight lines in no time. Other locations will give you shots at Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout (Steelhead), and Brook Trout! Walking, or floating down the river in our 14’ rafts makes for a memorable day in the water.

You’ll target your catch by spinning, trolling, drifting, jigging, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Matt also offers fly fishing, all gear can be supplied! Fishing on these trips is limited to catch and release.

Planning a family adventure? Kids are absolutely welcome! If you don’t have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there’s one on board. Snacks are never a bad idea so that everyone stays happy and energized!

You’ll be dropping lines from a 17’ Lund Aluminum fishing with room for 4 passengers. It comes with all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. Your captain will provide rods and reels, along with lures.

You will need to purchase a local fishing license before the trip. This information is available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off-limits depending on the time of year, so make sure you know what to expect. A few items to bring include sunblock (non-spray), sunglasses, and bottled water. Alcohol is not allowed.
