Fishing with Fergus
Crosshaven has a fish with your name on it, so let Fishing with Fergus help you catch it! Captain Fergus will be your guide, so you'll benefit from years of angling experience.
Around here it's common to catch Coalfish, Cod, Common Ling, Conger Eel, Dogfish, Gilt-head (Seabream), Gurnard, Haddock, Atlantic Mackerel, Pollock, Ray, European Seabass, and more with any luck.
For these species, you're likely to drift and bottom fish using light tackle.
Children are welcome, so the whole family can come and unplug for the day! If you don't have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there's one on board. Snacks are never a bad idea so that nobody gets cranky on an empty stomach!
You'll be casting lines from a 23' Arvor 230AS sportfishing vessel with room for 3 passengers. It comes with all the essentials.
Capt. Fergus has rods and reels for you. We hopefully will catch some mackerel, which we can use for live bait if required.
As of fishing season 2025, no fishing license is required. Some species like bass are restricted to 2 fish per angler.
It's always wise to bring sunblock (non-spray), bottled water, and sunglasses. There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is not allowed. There will be food and some light snacks for you on board.
Now, time to hit the water with Fishing with Fergus!

We arrived via cruise ship, and planned a fishing outing for me and my son as an excursion. Fergus coordinated plans with us in advance. Unfortunately, the ship didn't dock where expected and we had to pivot. Fergus, accommodated by adjusting the pick up point. We were able to get a good couple hours of fishing and caught many fish, including six species. My son had a great time which made it all worth it. Fergus was very welcoming, accommodating, and went out of his way to make sure we had a great experience. I would recommend this fishing for small group looking for a fishing excursion from a cruise ship. However, make sure you know exactly where the ship will port that day and arrange transport if necessary.

Thanks Dylan for the photos.

We gifted this experience to our father for Christmas and he had the most incredible day. He said that Fergus was knowledgeable, friendly and extremely accommodating on their trip. They had a fantastic day and caught loads of fish. He absolutely wants to book again for the Autumn.

I'm delighted they enjoyed the day. Until we meet again. Cheers Fergus
Super easy to find, great communication leading up to date as well. Weather wasn't really on our side, but he took the time to get us out and make the best of it and made sure we caught fish! Nice lunch and tea was included and some history about the area was thrown in also. We hope to make it back again before he retires!

Thanks Stephenie for the lovely review. I really appreciate it.
We were very happy with the fishing tour and would book it again anytime. Fergus was really friendly and explained everything we wanted to know. We truly enjoyed the time on the boat as well as the conversations with him. Until next time! Best regards, Mikko & Juhani from Finland 🇫🇮

Thanks Mikko for your review. Until we meet again. Tight lines.
The day was great, we caught enough fish to let go and keep it for cooking, the captain was a great and pleasant person.

Thanks Svitlana for the noce review. I'm sorry we didn't catch more fish. We caught 7 Species Grey gurnard, Sandeel, Conger, Ballen Wrase, Pollock, Lesser Spotted Dogfish, and a Thorneyback Ray. A lovely sunny day and a fairly flat sea. Cheers Fergus
I'm a 69 yr old very active retired guy. I've been fishing all my life. I fished with the Crosshaven sea angling club for over 20 yrs and was a club master angler many times. I know the Cork harbour very well,.
