Old Head Charters, operated by Captain Alex Gurnee, offers private fishing experiences from picturesque Cork Harbour and Courtmacsherry. Both are about 30 minutes from Kinsale. I cater to all skill levels and fishing preferences.
I specialise in targeting inshore species like Sea Bass and Pollock, as well as offering offshore trips for big game. My Boston Whaler does it all – allowing me to fish where other charter boats can't.
With years of local fishing knowledge, I guarantee an authentic and educational experience on the water for my guests.
What sets my operation apart?
Inshore Sea Bass specialist: Bass fishing in Ireland is a shallow water pursuit. The average depth I fish in is about 10 feet, over rough ground. These areas are inaccessible to all other Irish charter boats.
Private Charters Only: selling individual passenger tickets is a common practice on other boats. Unfortunately, it means you don't have a choice of who you fish with or what you fish for. When you step aboard Vibes Ahoy, you have exclusive hire of the vessel.
Multiple Departure Points: I fish out of four different harbours along the South coast of Ireland, depending on the conditions and time of year. This flexibility means we find more fish and cancel less trips.
Before your trip, it's always a good idea to check local regulations and bring along sun protection, sunglasses, and drinks/snacks for maximum comfort.

My son and I had that most amazing morning, fishing with Alex! Perfect morning for fishing and also just watching the dolphins frolicking around the boat. We caught loads of mackerel, few lovely Pollock, ling and even a couple of sea bass. We could not have asked for a better experience. Thanks again Alex.

You can cancel or modify your booking up to 3 days before the trip date, free of charge. If you cancel or modify your booking later, or fail to show up, you'll forfeit 100% of what you've paid.

Transfer to/from departure site is not included in trip rates.

Book with 10% deposit, pay rest to captain
When the captain confirms your trip, FishingBooker charges your credit card a 10% deposit to guarantee your reservation.
The remaining balance is to be paid directly to the charter operator on or prior to your trip date in one of the following payment methods:
