You’re likely to fish for Largemouth Bass, Clown Knife Fish, Crappie, Peacock Bass, and more, depending on when you go.
For these species, you’re likely to bottom fish using light tackle.
Planning a family adventure? Kids are absolutely welcome! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Don’t forget to bring snacks so that nobody gets cranky on an empty belly!
You’ll be welcome aboard a 21’ Bass boat with space for 3 passengers. It comes with and everything else you need for a productive day on the water.
You’ll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures.
You might need to buy a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
Don’t leave home without sunglasses, sunscreen (non-spray), and bottled water. If you’d like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Hitting nice peacock bass in the Everglades
Captain JP is a very experienced guide and fisherman and he put us right on the peacocks. We pulled in some nice fish, including big peacocks, some nice largemouth, and a few other species. He was helpful with some less experienced anglers in our group and skilled with dealing with a gator that was interested in our fish. We did end up with a bit of a bait shortage toward the end, but it worked out okay. I'd definitely recommend contacting Captain JP if you want to catch some nice peacock bass.

Great experience!
Can't say enough good things about Capt JP (aka The Bass Whisperer)! My sons and I caught fish throughout our trip and caught several different species of fish. JP was very knowledgeable about the water we were fishing and the fish we were catching. He was great with the kids (ages 14 and 17), teaching them how to land the fish and reassuring them when they missed some. We will be booking with JP the next time we have the opportunity. Great Outing With Our Grandson
Captain JP hosted me, my son, and my five-year-old grandson for a half-day trip on Lake Ida which was absolutely terrific.
