If you’re here to make the most of fishing in Rio Hondo, look no further than Savage Outfitting. Captain Cecil will be your guide, bringing aboard years of local experience.
Species like Red Snapper, Black Drum, Redfish, Flounder, Sheepshead, Freshwater Drum, and more are in the cards, depending on the season. For these species, you’re likely to drift and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle. Capt. Cecil also offers Flounder gigging. For the more adventurous among you, there’s bowfishing.
If you’re traveling with the family, you will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Don’t forget to bring snacks for a boost of energy when needed!
You’ll be welcome aboard a 25’ Majek center console that holds up to 5 passengers. It comes with all the essentials. You’ll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, along with lures.
There will be a First Mate on board to help your trip run smoothly. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 10–20% tip is customary.
Before coming aboard, you will need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
Some essentials to bring are a hat, sunglasses, bottled water, and sunblock (non-spray). Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
Give yourself something to look forward to and book a trip with Savage Outfitting!
