Red Beard's Finger Lakes Charters invites you to experience the stunning waters of Cayuga Lake. Having logged many hours on this lake, Captain Stan can tell you all about the local fishery. Depending on where the fish are biting and weather conditions Captain Stan trailers the boat to different launches on the lake so be sure to ask where your trip will be launching.
Depending on the season, you might hook into Perch and Trout, and whatever else is biting. On these trips, you can expect to bottom fish using light tackle. Trolling is also an option if conditions are right.
Planning a family adventure? Kids are absolutely welcome! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Customers are encouraged to bring snacks so that everyone stays happy and energized!
You'll be fishing aboard a 21 ft Crestliner aluminum boat with room for 4 passengers. It has all the essentials. Your captain will provide rods and reels. Live bait can be available for perch fishing if I know ahead of time to have it.
You will need to purchase a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off-limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
Some essentials to bring are sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), bottled water, and a hat. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

5 Hour Trip – Lake Trout Jigging AM on August 9, 2025 • 3 adults • 1 child
Our party were four including my six-year-old grandson and his parents and myself. Stan was very agreeable to tailoring the trip to our interest. We wanted to learn how to do jigging for Lake Trout and salmon and learn something about perch fishing. We started out by trolling to locate the fish and then went back to jig for them. The fish were persnickety and didn’t go after our jigging lures and Stan was more than happy to switch back to trolling for the last hour of our trip. We got two very nice five and 6 pound fish in that last hour of fishing. And Stan made sure to show us the rig for perch fishing that he finds the best and to show us how he locates places to go after them.
Stan made sure that my grandson had a good time and Stan was a great fishing, buddy.
We were more than satisfied with our outing.

Great trip

This was the best time. My domestic partner loves fishing so this was more for him. I was a long for the ride. Captain Stanley was the best. We learned so much from him, overall caught 7 or 8 fish with a few jumpers that got away. You can tell fishing is this man's passion. One minute driving the boat the next jumping up yelling " we got one" and helping with the catch. I recommend this charter and hoping next year at this time we will be seeing Captain Stanley again.

Amazing morning trip

Captain Stan would go out of his way to make sure we had a good time! Started with jigging with no success and Stan quickly switched over to trolling, and we quickly got five lake trouts of which three were keepers. We then switched back to jigging for the last hour and caught a 26in rainbow trout and a similar sized 8lb landlocked salmon. We had a lovely morning and would certainly return if we are in the area again.

Captain Stan was friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. We had only modest luck but he worked very hard to get fish on our lines and was clearly committed to delivering a good experience. He has equipment for a variety of techniques and was quick and helpful with guidance and tips. Would definitely recommend!
