The Mille Lacs Angler
Book your next trip with The Mille Lacs Angler and find out what keeps anglers coming back to Isle for more. Your guide for the day is Captain Dereke, which allows you to benefit from years of angling experience.
Depending on the season, you might hook into Walleye, and plenty more. During the trip, you will be bobber fishing with light tackle.
The Mille Lacs Angler welcomes kids aboard, so go ahead and bring the whole family along! Child-sized life vests are available for emergencies, otherwise, you should bring your own for comfort if you would like your child to wear one the whole time they are on the water. Snacks are never a bad idea to keep their stamina going!
Capt. Dereke operates a 40’ Pontoon with space for 12 passengers. It has all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. Capt. Dereke will provide rods and reels for you, as well as lures and live bait.
Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. Mates often work for tips and it’s customary to offer them a 10–20% tip.
Before coming aboard, it is required to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
It’s recommended to bring sunblock (non-spray), bottled water, and sunglasses. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
The click of a button is the only thing keeping you from a great day on the water with The Mille Lacs Angler!

Captain Derek and Mate Andy (a cute blond girl!) took great care of us on his big pontoon. Good conversation and instruction where needed, all easy-going and friendly. Captain Derek moved around the lake to multiple spots to make sure we found the fish, and they both re-baited us when needed. Great time for our family, enjoyed the evening.
We had a great time walleye fishing. Even with the weather being cruddy we had a great time catching fish! The guides were very friendly and personable. Highly reccomend!

We had a great time and caught some beautiful fish, and even though we would love to catch more (which you can’t control) Dereke and Randee made everything so easy, were great to talk to and learn from, and we also got to see some beautiful wildlife on Mille Lacs. Our whole group really enjoyed the trip and I would definitely recommend it to others!
These folks knew where the fish were and we caught quite a few. They know where the walleye hang out and possessed great expertise on the depth we should fish at and gave us excellent tips on fishing. The filleting job was first rate. We give them the highest recommendation. TM Johnson, Duluth
