Lagoona Guide Service was founded in 2011 by a full-time fishing guide and accomplished tournament fisherman Capt. Ryan Kelly. Since a recent Bassmaster poll ranked Mille Lacs Lake as the best Bass fishery in the country, you know you’re at the right place to go after Smallmouth. And with an experienced guide on your side, rest assured you’re having a trip of a lifetime.
It all starts on a 21’ Ranger 621 that accommodates up to 4 guests. This ranger boat is decked out with the latest in electronics and hardware. All rods and reels are technique specific sourced from top manufacturers such as G. Loomis, St. Croix, Shimano, and Daiwa. The boat also features a 250 HP Mercury engine and a wireless Minn Kota motor.
The season begins in early May on Mille Lacs with target species including Smallmouth Bass and Walleye. Fishing for these two species slows by early November.
The Muskie season begins in early June, with the biggest fish of the year rounding out the season in November.
Bass and Muskie trips are catch and release.
The ice fishing season begins around December 1 with target species including Walleye, Perch, Pike, and Tullibee (Whitefish). Ice fishing is usually done by the end of March.
You won’t just go fishing! If you’re interested, Capt. Ryan will share his knowledge about boat control, equipment setup, understanding electronics and mapping, and seasonal fish patterns.
All fishing equipment is included in the price, as well as catch cleaning and filleting (for the species you can keep). Make sure to bring your fishing licenses and pack some snacks and drinks for the day.
Capt. Ryan Kelly will gladly give his best for you to learn something new and have a memorable day on the water. Get in touch with Lagoona Guide Service and pick a date!
