We offer Salmon fishing charters and Halibut fishing charters in the hub of the best and most consistent fishing areas available off the West Coast of Vancouver Island.
Jason of West Edge Fishing has been fishing the waters of Vancouver Island since 1994 and has been operating out of Ucluelet for 20 years.
He is genuine, friendly, and service oriented. He strives to anticipate guest needs and exceed expectations - not only with the fishing, but also with providing an extraordinary West Coast experience. He holds many Transport Canada Marine certifications including advanced marine first aid as a professional mariner. Working on Tugs during the off season he has also worked for Canadian Coast Guard, and commercial fishing and other vessels.
The boat is a customized 25 ft Grady-White Gulfstream with seats you can reel in fish from. Fully insured, it meets or exceeds all Coast Guard safety requirements for Transport Canada. Its 9.5 ft extra-wide beam provides an awesome offshore fishing platform. This vessel was chosen for comfort, safety, and its famous reputation. It has been repowered with a 300 HP Suzuki and new Yamaha 25 Aux four-stroke outboard engines. It is fitted with 2 steering helms, 2 GPS, 2 sonar, 2 VHF radios, radar, stereo and a private toilet with plenty of dry storage. Downriggers, rods, reels, tackle are provided.
All fish within legal size and limits are yours to keep. They will be stored on ice and cleaned for you. Further processing nearby can be arranged for transport.
Its recommended dressing in layers and bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, medium sized cooler for your drinks, food, snacks etc. Moderate alcohol is ok but please no glass.
A printed Tidal Fishing License with a Salmon stamp from the DFO website are required for each person fishing.

Our grandson had his first fishing experience on the ocean and it ranked number one on his list. He caught at least 9 huge specimens. The captain taught him a lot and was helpful in every way. It was definitely the highpoint of his trip to Vancouver Island!

Jason was a knowledgeable and very friendly fishing guide. He was patient and helpful with some newbies. He took us straight to a good spot where we caught 3 big salmon, plus 2 that were lucky and got away! It has been a highlight of our honeymoon trip.

Visiting from thr UK this was one for the memory banks. Capt. Jason is a superb skipper, got me on the fish, knew the spots and had great chat and conversation for the outing. Highly recommend.

Jason was fantastic! He knew good spots and communicated with his fellow captains to know where the fish were that day. He was knowledgeable and fun. We caught many fish and 5 keepers, including 2 coho salmon, 2 chinook salmon and a halibut. We even got to feed an eagle a rock bass we had a blast! And we saw dolphins.

Our four hour trip with Captain Jason and West edge fishing was simply amazing. We caught two Coho, one Chinook, and a couple of other rock cod species we let go. All aspects of our day exceeded expectations by far. We’re looking forward to another trip in the near future.
