Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout are in the cards. With over 15,000 Trout per mile, the San Juan is an excellent year round fishery!
You can expect to do some fly fishing, and any fish caught on these trips will be released. It is possible to do a float down the bait waters to harvest 5 fish per angler if that is your goal.
Your fishing machine for the day is a 15' Hyde drift boat that can carry up to 2 passengers. It has all the essentials. All fly fishing equipment, rods, reels, and tackle are covered by the charter, as well as flies.
Before coming aboard, it will be required to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the guide.

Catching and keeping fish was our goal and we were not disappointed! One away from our limit! Captain Tim worked hard teaching one of us to fly fish and the other using a spinning reel. We will be back and probably ready to get to the Quality Waters for trophy size fish. Our captain learned to take the stringer of fish off the boat before putting it onto the trailer! It really was a great day!

Got a 24 inch Trophy Brown and 6 other Quality Trout including losing Huge Rainbow after 15 min fight. Tim clean cut Knowledgeable Great for a 88 year old hard of hearing Vietnam Vet or families. His roots are his Legacy as part of the Chavez San Juan family. Missed some initially as I was rusty. Released over 10 trout. At takeout hole kept 2 smaller ones to eat. Highly Recommend Tim.

Half Day Trip – Float (AM) on July 17, 2024I'll be 87 soon we are from Texas vacation in Pagosa Springs, CO. Booked Tim highly recommended, which is True we verified as he ably Guided we Seniors. Tim prompt, greeting friendly and respectful, clean cut great w us and families. Tim knows the San Juan born n raised, Family guiding Legacy. He worked hard, made fly adjustments, nicely Coached us to catch and release Rainbows. We had fished here before w other Guides, Tim IMO is the Best. Highly Recommended, we Plan to return. My grandfather was the legendary Abe Chavez who pioneered fly fishing on the San Juan river in New Mexico. My family has been in the fishing industry for over 60 years. I grew up fly fishing the San Juan and know the river intimately. I have over 25 years experience personally fishing to these trout on this river.
