PanaLakeSportfishing redefines what a fishing charter in Panama actually means.

I'm Capt. Luke, and I invite you to fish the legendary waters of Gatún Lake, a flooded jungle at the heart of the Panama Canal watershed, where the forest never left, it just went under. Submerged trees, sunken structure, and explosive peacock bass hiding in every shadow. This isn't just sport fishing, it's a full day inside one of the most singular fisheries on earth.

I've been guiding these waters for half a decade, and I manage every part of your day myself, from planning the trip around your skill level to reading the water in real time, so you can just fish.

There's a moment out here that sticks with people. The line goes tight, the water breaks, and for a second nothing else exists, not work, not your phone, not whatever you left back home. I've watched that moment change people's whole day, sometimes their whole trip to Panama. That's what I'm out here for.

Your day includes real technique, not just a rod in your hand, casting, trolling, and jigging tailored to how the fish are feeding that day.

Hungry after the trip? La Escondida, our local favorite spot, serves up fresh fried local fish, ice cold beer, ceviche, amazing shrimp, and plantain. Looking to make a trip of it? We also offer lakefront accommodation at PanaLake Lodge, with [casitas/amenities you want to highlight] just steps from the water.

Your trip runs aboard my 18 ft Boston Whaler inspired custom build, equipped with:
-Fishfinder and GPS
-All fishing gear provided
-Snacks and drinks
-Coolers
-Fish cleaning service

Welcome to Gatún Lake, let's go fishing.

Great Fishing Trip
Half Day Trip (AM) on June 12, 20253 adults

This is my third fishing experience on Lake Gatun, but my first with PanaLakeSportFishing. Captain Luke might be very young, but he sure knows the lake and a lot about fishing. I am not a novice, and I still learned a lot. I have been on several fishing trips back in the U.S., and Luke is as knowledgeable as any one of those guides. Luke has a passion for fishing, and it shows as he wants to ensure his fishing clients have a great experience. It was also really nice that we fished off a pontoon boat, which made a very stable, comfortable, and safe fishing platform to fish from. That helped to make the trip enjoyable and relaxing. I definitely recommend Luke if you want to catch fish.

I walked away from this charter completely impressed!
Half Day Trip (AM) on March 24, 20252 adults

I have been on many charters in my time as a fisherman. I have never walked away from a fishing trip this impressed with a captain. Not only did Luke make sure that we found fish. He was committed to making sure my kids had fun and my daughter was comfortable, catching fish and netting fish. He helped my son to hook bait and show them some of the nuances of what it means to be a ship captain. This young man knows that lake so very well that we had no choice but to catch fish. If you have the opportunity to go out with Luke, you should do so you will have an amazing time!

Big fish and even bigger smiles!!
Half Day Trip (AM) on March 2, 20253 adults

Freshwater sportfishing at its best! 37 peacock bass in 6 hrs..Captain Luke knows plenty of hotspots!! Couldn't keep the fish out of the boat...Luke was amazing at guiding us through the process and keeping the bait on our hooks. We only kept a couple fish for supper that night and appreciated that all of the other fish were released back into the lake. We will definitely return for another fun filled day. Thanks Luke!

Capt Luke did everything possible to ensure we had a great trip. We caught more than 10 peacock bass in a short half day trip. He knows the lake and has certainly done his homework.
