Depending on the fish you’re after, you may find yourself spinning, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Trips with Mama Tried Fishing are child-friendly, so get ‘em offline and onto the water! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Don’t forget to bring snacks to maintain your energy throughout the trip!
Your excursion begins aboard a 27’6 Robalo center console with 9’6" beam, holds up to 6 passengers. It comes with outriggers, all the essentials. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will provide rods and reels, as well as lures. Live bait is on offer, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
A First Mate will be there to make sure everything is running smoothly. A 10–20% tip is customary to show your appreciation for their hard work.
There’s no need to buy a fishing license, just show up ready for a good time! Some fish have special regulations, including when you can keep them. Your captain will help you follow regulations while you fish.
Don’t forget to bring sunglasses, and sunscreen (non-spray). Bottled water will be provided. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. If you need to contact Captain Mike feel free to do so below.

Half Day Trip – Reef Special (AM) on March 11, 2025
My husband, son and I went fishing with Captain Mike of ‘Mama Tried’ Fishing. It was a fun-filled morning where we caught 10 Sheephead, Grunts, and a Red Fin. Mike met us at the launch, supplied all the gear, setup the rods, baited the lines and cleaned the fish. Having Mike and deckhand Johnny take care of all of the details sure made for a relaxing fishing trip! Thank you Mike! We would highly recommend and hope to go fishing with Captain Mike again in the future!

If you are looking for an offshore trip that is a great time then don’t hesitate to book with Captain Mike. He will have you on fish all day long that will feed your family for weeks following. He even made catching bait fun reeling up 5 fish at a time. I am sure the younger ones would love doing that. From Grouper to Snapper and everything in between the only thing stopping you from eating it is what is in season when you go because he will put you on the fish!!!
