These waters are known for Black Drum, Flounder, Redfish, Sheepshead, Speckled Trout, Spotted Seatrout, and more – with any luck, you’ll hook into a few! You can expect to do some light tackle fishing, popping, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids are absolutely welcome! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Also remember to bring snacks to keep ‘em happy!
Capt. Kevin welcomes you aboard a 24’ Ranger 2400 Bay boat with space for 4 passengers. It has everything you need for a productive day on the water. Your captain will provide rods and reels, as well as lures and bait.
Before coming aboard, it will be necessary to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
It’s always wise to bring sunglasses, sunscreen (non-spray), bottled water, and a hat. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

I recently went fishing with Captain Kevin from Down South Fishing Charters, and it was an experience to remember! From the start, he was punctual and welcoming, which set the tone for our day on the water. Kevin's passion for fishing truly shines through in his friendly personality and vast knowledge of the local waters.
Although the bite was slow early on, Captain Kevin didn’t let that deter us. He skillfully covered more water, determined to find us some fish. We even ran into a challenge with small fish eating through our bait, using up about 5lbs. But Kevin went the extra mile—literally—by heading back to the marina to get us more bait. This kind of dedication is hard to come by!
In the end, he fished an extended hour so we could make the most of our time. His commitment to ensuring we had a great experience really impressed me. Overall, the trip was both affordable and enjoyable, and I genuinely look forward to fishing with Captain Kevin again. Highly recommend!

Day on the Water with Captain Kevin
7 Hour Trip – Inshore on August 16, 2024
I recently had the pleasure of joining Kevin with Down South Fishing Charters for a fishing trip, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish! Kevin was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about fishing. He shared great tips and stories, which made the day even more enjoyable. We targeted red fish but also caught a few others and had great success! Kevin knew the best spots and we ended up with a nice haul. There was plenty of action throughout the day, which kept everyone engaged and excited. I highly recommend Down South Fishing Charters to anyone looking for a fantastic fishing adventure. I can’t wait to book another trip!

Day Trip with Captain Hezeau
7 Hour Trip – Inshore on September 7, 2024
Would definitely recommend taking a trip Captain Hezeau. He is extremely knowledgeable of where the fish will be depending on the weather/wind. It was a very windy on the day we went, but we still managed to fill the box with some nice redfish. If you are inexperienced he is more than willing to take the time to teach/help you get some fish on the boat! Captain Hezeau cleaned the fish at the dock for us very quickly and had me on my way with a nice bag of fish. Highly recommend a trip and would definitely go again!
