Your day with True Florida Expeditions is all about fun. Your expedition is tailored to your request. Therefore your day may be a trip up the Peace or Myakka rivers, Gator creek or through the extensive coast line of Charlotte Harbor. In addition, Captain Leighton will take the opportunity to point out the amazing wildlife in the Charlotte Harbor estuary. He will share his knowledge about a wide range of wildlife and Florida history. Spoonbills, ibis, herons, pelicans, manatee and bald eagles are a few of the species you may encounter as you explore Charlotte Harbor. So expect to relax and spend a wonderful day on the water.

Up to 2 guests are welcome aboard the 17' Pathfinder flats boat. A light and shallow-hulled vessel, she was built specifically for the skinny waters. You'll whizz across the water tops to get to the fishing grounds, before settling on the spots that other boats just can't reach! You'll have all the gear needed for a productive day out, and Capt. Leighton will even provide water and Gatorade for you to stay refreshed.

Get ready for a thrilling day out, whatever you choose to go after, as you put your bottom fishing or fly fishing skills to the test against some of Florida's most-loved fish.

Sheepshead, Trout, Snook, and Redfish are just some of the creatures you'll find in the shallower waters. When the season hits, you'll get to take advantage of one of the world's biggest Tarpon runs, and have an intense battle with one of these beasts!

At the end of your trip, your captain will clean and fillet any catch you'd like to take home, so make sure that you come aboard ready to fill the boat. All you need to do is bring some snacks aboard and settle in for a fun-filled day with True Florida Expeditions. Come aboard and make the most of Boca Grande's rich waters!

Member since April 2016

Before pursuing his passion as a full time captain and commercial fisherman, Captain Leighton Ingram worked in a corporate career for 13 years, only to spend his free time on the water. His family has been in Florida since the early 1880's and he is a second generation guide. When his family settled here they were part of the growing agriculture and citrus industry. The family eventually moved to become part of the community on Gasparilla Island, and at one time owned the historic Journey's End property on 18th street. To this day, Leighton has family residing in Boca Grande, Florida. He is a member of the Boca Grande Guides Association, and a U.S Merchant Marine. His extensive fishing experience has brought him to live in places from Destin to the exclusive Ocean Reef Club where he lived four years. He currently resides in Punta Gorda, Florida with his four children. When the captain is not on the water, he is an avid reader and writer; he likes cooking for his friends and family.
