+39Fish Hatteras is your ticket to the stunning waters of Hatteras. Your guide for the day is Captain Wes, which allows you to benefit from years of local experience.
Depending on conditions, you might hook into Cobia, Redfish, Speckled Trout, Spotted Seatrout, Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel (Kingfish), Sheepshead, Blacktip Shark, Black Seabass, Gray Triggerfish, Red Snapper, and anything else that bites. Depending on the species you’re after, you may find yourself spinning, popping, trolling, drifting, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Wes also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly gear.
Capt. Wes welcomes children aboard, so go ahead and bring the whole family along! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Snacks are permitted onboard — bring your favorites to stay fueled throughout your trip!
You'll be casting lines from a 25' Southern Cross center console that holds up to 4 passengers. It has all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. Rods, reels, and tackle are covered by the charter, along with lures. Live bait is included if that is the technique required for the trip.
Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, just show up ready for a good time! Keep in mind that you may release some fish due to regulations. Your captain will help you follow regulations while you fish.
Don't forget to bring sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), and bottled water. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

A great day fishing with Wes and Fish Hatteras! Wes was very professional, personable, and got us on the fish first thing in the morning. It was a fun 1/2 day fishing trip to enjoy with two of my sons. My boys are getting older and living on their own. So, any chance to spend some quality time with them is enjoyed. If you are staying in OBX and looking for some time on the water with family or friends, I highly recommend scheduling a trip with Wes. Online booking was very easy and Wes had the boat ready to go as soon as we got to the dock. I will definitely book a trip with Wes the next time I'm in Hatteras. Thanks again, Wes. 1/4 Day Evening Trip on May 15, 2025
Five stars aren't enough for this young man, his boat and equipment. He did ALL the work while we had all the fun. Very knowledgeable, courteous and patient. From Pennsylvania we knew basically zero about this fishing, didn't need to with Wes. Made extra effort for our comfort as well. Literally within 10 minutes we were catching. 2 rays, 1 blue and countless Red Drum. Arms are tired today. The drive from Southern Shores was sooo worth it. If we are lucky enough to make it back to the Outer Banks we will call Fish Hatteras without hesitation. Absolute joy. Good luck to Captain Wes. Ron and Betty

We went on the am half day trip and started catching blues right away. Within 45 minutes we were at our max for blues for the day. We then went into the ocean and killed the sheepshead. We completely filled the the fish box where it was overflowing. Captain Wes then took us around looking for reds, we didn't have any luck on the reds but we definitely had an awesome day fishing. He is a great captain and really knows what he is doing. I would definitely recommend going on a trip with captain Wes!

We had a great time fishing with Wes today. He took us directly to where the fish were and was very attentive to our interests. Wes kept our lines in the water and made the most of our four hours. I would definitely recommend Wes who is also local to the area and has great insights to eateries and ways to spend your time if you are visiting.

Captain Wes was great! He was very patient with my family - especially with my son who is autistic. We caught way more fish than we could keep!
