Flyin' Salty
If you're ready to get hooked on fishing in St. Petersburg, we've got you covered with Flyin' Salty.
Little Tunny (False Albacore), Lane Snapper, Red Snapper, Vermilion Snapper, Gray Triggerfish, Amberjack, Gag Grouper, Red Grouper, Black Grouper, Mangrove Snapper, Hogfish, Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), and more inhabit these waters, depending on the time of year.
You can expect to do some spinning, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Flyin' Salty is a kid-friendly charter service, so the whole family can come and unplug for the day! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Snacks are permitted onboard — bring your favorites to ward off any mid-trip fatigue!
Capt. Ryan welcomes you aboard a 28' Center console with room for 6 passengers. It comes with all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There's a toilet on board for your convenience.
Your captain will provide rods and reels, along with lures. Live bait is available, but you should ask the captain whether you'll be catching it yourself.
Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. It's customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.
The charter boat covers your fishing license, just show up ready for a good time! Be mindful that some species may have special rules or limited seasons. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more.
You can't go wrong when you bring sunglasses, sunscreen (non-spray), and bottled water. Drinks are included, free of charge. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be some light snacks for you on board.
You could keep reading this, but wouldn't you rather be fishing with Flyin' Salty?

St. Petersburg, Florida, United States
Captain Ryan has spent more than 30 years on the water, turning a lifelong passion into the career he always dreamed of—becoming a professional charter fishing captain. From his earliest days fishing the Gulf and the bays along Florida’s west coast, he knew the water wasn’t just a hobby—it was home. Today, Captain Ryan runs charters out of the Tampa Bay/ST. Pete area, where he has logged thousands of hours learning the tides, seasonal migrations, structure, and feeding patterns that make this region one of the most productive fisheries on the Gulf Coast. His experience allows him to consistently put clients on fish, whether working the passes, nearshore reefs, or pushing into open water. He specializes in targeting hard-fighting game fish of the open Gulf—species that test both skill and stamina. From powerful kingfish runs to high-speed pelagic strikes and bruiser bottom fish battles, Captain Ryan thrives on putting anglers in the middle of the action. His approach blends patience, preparation, and adaptability, always adjusting to conditions to give his clients the best possible opportunity. Known for his calm demeanor, deep knowledge of local waters, and genuine enthusiasm, Captain Ryan welcomes everyone from first-time anglers to seasoned fishermen looking for a serious offshore challenge. For him, every trip is personal—because living the dream means helping others experience the thrill of the catch. When you fish with Captain Ryan, you’re not just booking a charter—you’re stepping aboard with someone who has spent a lifetime earning his place at the helm.
