Spend the day with Hookin' Huffman and get hooked on fishing in Port Aransas! With Captain Jared at the helm, you're in knowledgeable and experienced hands.
Fishing around here will often see you targeting Black Drum, Sheepshead, Redfish, Flounder, Bonnethead Shark, Mangrove Snapper, Spotted Seatrout, and more, depending on conditions. On these trips, you can expect to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.
Looking to get the whole family outdoors? Kids are absolutely welcome! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Also remember to bring snacks to maintain your energy throughout the trip!
Your fishing machine for the day is a 21' Avid center console with space for 5 passengers. It has all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. Capt. Jared has rods and reels for you, along with lures. Live bait is on offer, but you should ask the captain whether you'll be catching it yourself.
Before coming aboard, it will be required to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
It's recommended to bring sunglasses, and sunblock (non-spray). If you'd like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

My normal guide was unavailable for today's trip so i ended up with a new guide. Always apprehensive about change/new so i read reviews about the Captain. Never know if reviews are totally honest or if the top ten family and friends wrote the review. Booked Hookin Huffman and he was better and more personable than the reviews. This dude is my new guide moving forward. GREAT EXPERIENCE

Fantastic time with the family

Me and my family had a great time with Jared ! He's a very knowledgeable guide that'll get you on the fish and is great with kids. My family had never fished a flats/bay boat and now they love it. (Wife isn't big on fishing but loved this, her arm is sore from all the fish she was catching!) so green light on buying a boat ! Fellas if you need to persuade your wife here's your answer lol.

Captain Jared is a great guy. We got caught by a storm early in our trip which was the only disappointment but nothing any Captain can control but I will say that within an hour we had 2 Red keepers and if that storm wouldn’t happened then I was already preparing to hook up the rest of the trip. Both my Son and Law are super ready to get down there and do it all over with no storm. By the way also gave us some fishing around Port A without a boat. Son and Law wouldn’t get off the beach the rest of the weekend without a rod. Thank You Captain Jared. Once again look forward to the next trip!

Five-Star Experience with Hookin’ Huffman

My son (Moose) and I had the pleasure of spending a 5-hour trip on the water with Jared Huffman—better known around Port Aransas as Hookin’ Huffman—and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide. While the fish weren’t exactly cooperating that day, it didn’t matter. Jared’s professionalism, energy, and deep knowledge of the waters made the experience unforgettable.
He had us laughing, learning, and completely engaged the entire time. The boat was spotless, the gear was top-notch, and Jared worked non-stop to put us on fish. It’s clear he takes pride in what he does, and even more clear that he truly cares about his clients having a great time—fish or no fish.
If you’re looking for a guide who knows his stuff, treats you like family, and makes the most out of every minute on the water, Hookin’ Huffman is your guy. Moose and I will absolutely be booking with Jared again—next time we’ll bring the fish with us!

We had a Great time Fishing with Captain Jared, he was cool and made us feel welcomed.
Took us to a few spots. We did catch fish and my son caught a stingray! But only one keeper. We still had a Great time and will be requesting him again.
We caught reds, speckled trout, catfish, a Big perch, toad fish and a stingray.
He made sure to keep me informed on the weather bc it was raining and what time we would link up to fish.
Also offered some spots if we needed tackle stuff and bait. He is very knowledgeable.
