Hoping to catch some fish around Nanaimo? Make it happen, with Fisherman's Life Charters! Come enjoy the day on our 30 foot Kingfisher with all the room and amenities!
Depending on the season, you might hook into Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Pink Salmon, Chum Salmon, Lingcod, various species of Rockfish, Dungeness Crab, BC Spot Prawns, and who knows what else! Depending on the species you’re after, you may find yourself light tackle fishing, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Families making a day of it will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available. Don't forget to bring snacks to ward off any mid-trip fatigue!
Your excursion begins aboard a 30 foot Kingfisher Coastal Express pilothouse with capacity for 6 passengers. It comes with downriggers, and all the essentials. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Rods, reels, and tackle are provided, as well as lures.
A First Mate will be there to make sure everything is running smoothly. A tip is customary to show your appreciation for their hard work.
Before coming aboard, you will need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
You can't go wrong when you bring sunglasses, a hat, sunblock (non-spray), and bottled water. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

6 Hour Trip
Team building trip
We planned this trip as a team building day to cap off a business planning session and it couldn’t have gone better. Captain Wallace was very responsive to messages before the trip. When we arrived he had a few crabs already waiting for us. We dropped a couple prawn traps and we were off salmon fishing. 4 of our group of 6 had never landed a salmon on a rod but that changed within minutes of getting the lines wet. Captain Wallace and Erin were so awesome! By the end of the day we had 12 salmon and a ling. We pulled the traps and ended up with a few pounds of spot prawns. The boat was clean and had everything we needed. I would highly recommend this amazing team to anyone that wants to have a great day of fishing with good people. I already can’t wait for our next trip with them!

Fintastic Day!!
What a memorable day! Not only did we get to experience ocean fishing, we also got to experience seeing humpback whales, seals, sea lions, river otters, a box crab and hermit crab, spotted prawns, octopus, eagles and squat lobsters (somethings we have never seen before). Unbelievable experience with the best, Captain Joe and First Mate Aaron. Highly recommend spending the day with them, you won’t be disappointed.

Bonked it on the head!
Joe and his wife did a great job of making the trip fun and enjoyable. It was a guided tour of the beautiful Gabriola island filled with wildlife and amazing views. They were both knowledgeable and helpful for experienced and someone who has never fished. Highly recommended!
