Fisherman's Life Charters – Nanaimo
- Please note that launch time will be determined a day or so before the charter. Wind and weather factors are always what determines when we leave the dock. The safety and comfort of our customers is paramount! -
Hoping to catch some fish around Gabriola? Make it happen, with Fisherman's Life Charters! Come enjoy the day on our 30 foot kingfisher with all the room and amenities! Your guide for the day is Captain Joe or Bob which means you'll tap into decades of knowledge and experience of the local waters.
Depending on the season, you might hook into Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Pink Salmon, Chum Salmon, Lingcod, various species of Rockfish, Dungeness Crab, BC Spot Prawns, and who knows what else! Depending on the species you're after, you may find yourself light tackle fishing, trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Families making a day of it will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available.
We also operate a second vessel 28ft Kingfisher Pilothouse with its own listing, Go-Fish Charters if you are looking to accommodate more passengers, or if the dates you are searching are booked.
Rods, reels, and tackle are provided, as well as lures.
A First Mate will be there to make sure everything is running smoothly. A tip is customary to show your appreciation for their hard work.
Before coming aboard, you will need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
You can't go wrong when you bring sunglasses, a hat, sunblock (non-spray), and bottled water. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
And that's it! Your fishing trip with Fisherman's Life Charters is just a click away!

My 22 y/o daughter and I had a wonderful experience with Captain Joseph, and his wife Jessica! Lovely folks and a comfortable, well equipped boat. Great communication with us about what to expect from what we wanted to go for (Coho, Chinook, Lingcod, Prawns, and Dungeness), weather, licenses, etc. The waves were big, but Joseph made adjustments and we nearly hit the boat hatchery Coho limit. (I barely got a break between hits.) He filleted them up for us and they are ready to bring back to the US. Ate a big crab and salmon dinner!

thanks!! you guys are lots of fun and know how to handle some very rough water! It was our pleasure!

A two day fishing trip with Joe and Jessica was some of the best fishing we could hope for. Joe knew the waters around Nanaimo and found some of the best fishing I've ever seen. We must've caught 75 salmon, but unfortunately, had to throw most of them back because they weren't in season yet. Their equipment was first straight and they accommodated our every wish. If you're looking for a small group fishing excursion, you found the captain and crew.

amazing group. your team was lots of fun!
We had a great time going out and doing the 6 hr trip. Our son, who's only hope was to catch crabs and shrimp, was not disapponted and they made sure we were all set all day.

thanks for joining us! we appreciate the business.
wow. what a great experience!!! we got 8 fish for 4 people and crabs and spot prawns. Thank you!!!! Captains and crews are great!!!

you guys were awesome!
Joe and his wife did a great job of making the trip fun and enjoyable. It was a guided tour of the beautiful Gabriola island filled with wildlife and amazing views. They were both knowledgeable and helpful for experienced and someone who has never fished. Highly recommended!
I have been a lifelong fisherman. Started as a young boy fishing lakes and rivers and graduated to the deep and wild water of the Pacific Northwest. Quickly gained a reputation as a avid angler that could target all the most wanted fish and seafood. From salmon and lingcod to prawns and crabs. Nothing gives more joy than being on the water getting after it!
