Northwood Flyfisher
If you're going to cast a line in Hayward, look no further than Northwood Flyfisher. Your guide for the day is Josh, bringing along decades of local experience.
These waters are known for Muskellunge (Musky), Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Crappie, Walleye, Northern Pike, and more – with any luck, it won't take long to hook into some.
Josh specializes in targeting all species of fish using fly fishing but is well versed with conventional tackle. All required equipment is provided but you are welcome to bring your own too.
Capt. Josh is happy to have kids aboard, so go ahead and bring the whole family along! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. You're welcome to bring snacks to ward off any mid-trip fatigue! Polarized sunglasses are highly reccomended but manditory on fly fishing trips. I also highly advise bringing rain gear on your trip.
Lake trips are run using my Ranger RT188p and river floats are done using my Clackacraft Eddy 360 drift boat. Please note you will need your own vehicle to assist with the shuttle on river trips.
You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures and flies. Live bait is also and option during lake trips. Rivers are limited to fly fishing only.
You might need to purchase a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
A few items to bring include sunglasses, sunscreen (non-spray), and bottled water. There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles. There will be food and some light snacks available on board.
